[Open] The Sun Is Setting, But The Dawn’s A New Premiere

1 - River Cleanup
[Helping to clear out the river of garbage seemed like a good job for the month. The other Merrows could get some clean water to swim in, and the shores would be clear of garbage for anyone who wanted to relax and take a quick swim. Honestly, it seemed like a nice job, especially with the weather being so nice!]

[However, while Roxas is not adverse to hard work, he hadn't anticipated how much garbage there was to clean. And the weather, while nice, did mean it was easy to work up a sweat while he worked. Not to mention all his extra fur growth means he's getting hotter than normal. He's already stripped off his vest, working only in his tank top, but he's considering even removing that.]

[After an hour or so of working like this, Roxas straightens and rests his hands on his hips, stretching his back as he looks at whoever is nearby helping him work.]

Hey... can we take a break? I'm getting really hot here.

2 - Skater Boy
[As interesting as life in Aefenglom is, Roxas finds that he misses a couple creature comforts that he had back in Twilight Town. And while he can't exactly summon forth the things he misses from home, he can try to recreate a couple of them.]

[The simplest thing he tries to make is a skateboard. With the city as it is it's not like he can find a skateboard shop in town, but he can scavenge up a few supplies. It's not much, just a plank of wood and a few scavenged wheels, but it'll do. And while Roxas isn't a handyman, he has a knack for synthesis, so the concept of taking random items and putting them together isn't entirely foreign to him. When he's done, it's not the prettiest thing, but it looks serviceable enough to try out.]

[For those walking through the streets, you might notice the Turnskin out in quiet streets or empty alleys testing out his homemade skateboard. He just practices rolling along with it at first, but he does attempt to do a few simple kickflips with it, just to test it out.]

3 - Breaking and Entering..?
[With the weather growing a lot nicer, Roxas has been craving another desire from home; namely, a place to sit and watch the sunset. Sure this world might not have the golden sunsets of his home, but he still enjoys sitting and watching the sun sink down across the horizon as evening gives way to nightfall.]

[But it's not just the sunset he craves; he also wants a spot to watch it from. And sure, climbing up to the roof of the house he and the other Keyblade Wielders isn't bad, but he kind of wants another vantage point. Something like the Clock Tower from Twilight Town; high enough up to see not only the sunset, but the sprawling city as well.]

[Throughout the month, Roxas will have various evenings where he scouts out tall buildings to try to climb. Sometimes they're old, abandoned buildings no one bothers with, and sometimes they're smack dab in the middle of a busy street. These areas might not exactly be open to the public, but Roxas is trying to be discreet. He might still catch the attention of an observing passerby, though, whether it be him sneaking into a back door or from the roof itself of said buildings.]

[It... might look like breaking and entering at first, but Roxas really isn't trying to cause trouble. He just wants to find That Perfect Spot.]

Closed to Kor - Bonding

[Thanks to his loss of control last month during the full moon, Roxas has been looking for someone to forge a Bond with to help stabilize his transformations. He'd been hoping to hold off, take his time figuring things out, but it seems that time was a luxury he might not have. Not if he wants to avoid another event like last month.]

[Fortunately, thanks in part to Sora, Roxas has an idea of who he can talk to. And so, early in the month, Kor will get a message from Roxas.]

Hey, Kor? Are you there?

[Sora's meddling definitely worked out for the both of them in this instance. Sora's words had been weighing around in Kor's mind ever since Sora convinced him to form a bond with Roxas. Not that it exactly took much convincing.

He was just preparing to send a message to Roxas himself, but it seems like Roxas beat him to the punch.]

Roxas! Great timing, there's something I wanted to talk to you about!

[twilightskey]

You do?

[Roxas is a bit surprised by that, but he has a feeling he knows what Kor's about to say.]

Sora talked to you, didn't he?

Yeah, he did! [He's surprised Roxas figured that out so quickly.] How'd you--

[But then it hits him.]

He talked to you too, huh?

[twilightskey]

Yeah, he did. He said you might be able to help me.

Is that... alright? Would you be okay with... making a Bond with me?

Closed to Ventus - Counting Sheep

[twilightskey]

[Roxas is not unfamiliar with picking up odd jobs, and when Ventus told him about this particular job, he figured it would be easy. After all, testing a mattress out seems pretty harmless, all things considered. And so long as Ventus doesn't steal his blanket again, this should be fairly simple.]

[He goes with Ventus to pick up the mattress, and together they set it up in Ventus's room. Roxas lets out a sigh once its done, looking it over curiously.]

So, all we have to do is sleep on it to test it?

That's what they told me...

[it does seem a little too easy, but he can't imagine it'll be that difficult.

ven sits down on it first with a breath of relief and smiles up at roxas.] It's really comfortable at least!

[twilightskey]

Huh.

[Sounds easy enough... Roxas shrugs and moves to take a seat on the mattress as well, bouncing a little on it.]

Yeah, it is. Well, at least it’ll be easier than cleaning up the river.

[ven laughs softly when roxas joins him on the bed, making him bounce a little too.]

Ugh, definitely easier! Just thinking about all that gross stuff getting in my fur and hair makes my skin crawl.

[ven falls back on the bed, tugging at roxas' shirt sleeve.]

That's only if you fall in the river. It's worse because my fur makes me overheat way too much.

[Roxas had to take several breaks just to keep himself from overheating.]

[He falls back at Ven's tug, lying on his back and glancing at Ven.]

You're not going to take the blankets this time, are you?

Of course.

[ The break won't be something that can last for too long. Not if they want to get as much work done today as possible. But, Aqua knows its important for him to not overdo it either. ]

I can find some water for you, if you'd like.

[ That may help cool him down a little. ]

[Roxas nods, before sitting down on the grass. Once he sits down, he flops back on his back, letting out a few deep breaths.]

Sure... Yeah. Water would be good.

...man, is it just me, or is it really warm?

[lightblooming]

[ There's a pause on Aqua's end, and she extends a wing out. ]

Here, this may help. ... I've heard that my wings are a bit cold.

[ She offers a small, almost uncertain smile. ]

I'm sure that your fur isn't helping right now.

[twilightskey]

Woah!

[He hasps at the sudden chill, but once he gets used to it he sighs and scoots under her wing.]

Yeah... that does help. Thanks, Aqua.

[So much better! And he lets out a relieved breath.]

No, it's really not. I mean, it would be fine otherwise. I've done harder work than this before.

Have you?

[ Aqua asks, curious. Was it work related to the fact that he was a keyblade wielder? Or something else entirely? ]

[Sora is out and about on his day when he happens upon one of his favorite turnskins playing out in the streets. Of course Sora comes up to him with a wave to see what he's up to. And upon seeing the makeshift skateboard he can't help but gawk.]

Whoa! Hey, Roxas! Did you make that?

[He's not the best at skateboarding himself, Roxas has always been much better and much more into it. But he's curious! Is Roxas going to be able to pull off the legendary kick-flip on that thing?]

Hmm?

[Roxas rolls to a stop and looks up at Sora, nodding.]

Oh, yeah. I did. I couldn’t find any skateboard shops in town, so I improvised.

[He’s quite proud of himself! He steps on the end of the skateboard to tilt it up and picks it up to offer to Sora to inspect.]

[Of course Sora comes closer to check the work out. He peeks at it and takes it with a curious grin.]

It looks pretty good, Roxas. I didn't know you were so crafty with this sort of stuff.

[It looks pretty make-shift and homemade but pretty good all things considering.]

[He rubs at the spot under his nose, and his tail slowly wags at the praise.]

I didn’t think so either. But I saw the Moogle do so much synthesis at the Castle, I figured it shouldn’t be so hard, right?

[Sora grins when Roxas acts so puppy-like.]

Yeah! You've always been a quick learner too, Roxas! Come on, show me something cool. A cool trick!

[He wants to see it working again!]

SKATER

[ Will Henry had been nearby helping to much out the river, but he hadn't made any small talk. He was used to being alone, a lot, and if he wasn't forced to speak by someone else or by the situation... He just wouldn't. He's also used to being asked to clean and it's a task that he just does while letting his mind drift somewhere else. It was cathartic in a way, so maybe his quietness wasn't that negative.

Still, he recognizes the other boy and is watching with an intense curiosity out of his red-tinted naga eyes. There are plenty of people from times like his own: ones not quite all the way through an industrial revolution either through timeline or magic. But then there are things like volleyball (not yet invented in 1891) and skateboards. He finds himself violently curious.

So he approaches. ]

What is that?

[twilightskey]

[For what is literally a plank of wood with four wheels screwed to it, his makeshift skateboard holds up pretty well! He hasn’t done any wild tricks on it, but rolling around and doing a couple kick flips haven’t caused any noticeable damage to it, so Roxas is pleased.]

[At the new voice, Roxas blinks and looks up, resting a foot on the ground as he comes to a stop.]

This? It’s a skateboard. Or, well, it’s supposed to be. I made it myself ‘cause I couldn’t find any skateboard shops here.

It looks like... a plank with roller skate wheels.

[ Is it somehow more complicated than that, maybe some mind of contraption underneath he can't see? ]

They have whole shops for that?

[ He does not sound like a naysayer, just someone who has no clue. ]

That’s basically what a skateboard is, yeah.

[He gets off the board and picks it up so that if he wants to, he can inspect it.]

Not here, but there’s one in the world I’m from. This is just a really, really basic version of what a skateboard is, but some of the ones I’ve seen back home are made with special wood to make them lighter, or painted with specific designs on them, or customized however you want. The shops also sell shoes and clothes you can wear while skateboarding.

I take it you don’t have any in your world?

No. We don't have any magic either, and monsters aren't real.

[ Just to! Get those parts out of the way, they always come up eventually. ]

I thought... [ Ah, he flushes because he realizes he's about to say something that will make him seem naive, but he pushes on. ] I thought the things boys played with were pretty much all the same, but it looks like it can be really different. Another boy showed me how to play volleyball, a little.

[ There is something about Will Henry, more than just being from a specific timeline. He's also not very confident or comfortable socializing. Hesitant, quick to downplay what he might know. ]
