But-- Lapis?

[Lorenz took a step back, brows lifting in surprise both at Lapis' behavior and the sheer intensity of the emotions he felt from the Gem. The depths were the same as what he had witnessed in January, amid the ruins of the burnt buildings-- but seeing it in her eyes and feeling his heart shake in his chest in responce to the torrent of sentiments that weren't his own was utterly foreign.

Stilling himself, he stared squarely into Lapis' eyes and turned away.]

...It's neither of our choice to be here right now,

[He said quietly, respecting her privacy while he faced the opposite direction.]

No one will be hurt tonight-- but we can leave if that's what you wish.

[Her wings flare out wider at his words, even as he turns away from her, from the sight of Jasper and herself attacking each other, and there's a bolt of indignation at that too, because she's just a mess to begin with right now.

His quiet words are lost on her, over the sound of water and of blows connecting with simulated flesh, of taunting and jeering, of begging and pleading coming from the other two Gems, and the faint, rustling bubble of a small consciousness that threatens to become it's own, but never does.

Lapis has to shake her head to try and clear it over the haze of the memory and feelings of fusion. It's overwhelming; even if it's a memory, she can recall the feelings perfectly, and make them her own.]

Don't. [She starts, seething at first, before she shakes her head, then clutches it, because she knows that's not the emotion she's supposed to be having at him. He's not Jasper.

He's nothing like her. He's nothing like her either, or Malachite, but she's struggling right now.]

[Breathing deeply, Lorenz reminded himself to focus on the emotions that were his and only his. The onslaught of torrentous emotions from both Lapis and her dream self was easier to bear in that reminder.

Stopping-- but pointedly not turning yet, Lorenz sighed.]

'Don't' what?

Lapis... what is going on?

[She can't just leave, because that would mean leaving behind this. The feeling of power, of being something close to whole and right and what she's supposed to be again. The feeling of being a transformer is there, at the edges of her finger tips. The feeling that she can- could rend planets.]

I'm- fighting Jasper. With Jasper? [With Jasper. Against her. Against Alexandrite with her..]

[The sound of her voice breaking and fragmenting, like so many shards of glass dashed against the tile, was what ultimately made Lorenz turn. Still not venturing close, he watched from his distance with his confusion of the circumstances intermingling with his understanding of the emotions. He didn't dare imagine he had a full grasp of the depths of a millennia old Gem's emotions... but he could Try.]

Who is Jasper? Are these the other Gems you have mentioned before?

The gem I'm fused with, her! [She gestures roughly towards the hulking figure of the soldier Gem who currently is towering above her dreamself, seemingly winning the fight for the moment.]

The other gems... They're fused into Alexandrite. To fight us. Me. [Malachite.]

...Lapis, this is all incredibly complex and I'll be the first to admit that I do not entirely understand, but if you're trying to make a point...

[He sighed-- and reached out his hand for Lapis.]

Your point has been made. I'm well aware that you've had your troubles, but please... just talk to me. I'm not going to judge.

[mirrortide]

[His hand connects with hers as she watches, that seems to be enough to jolt her senses to the present instead of the past, and she looks.. deeply unnerved, by all of it.

She looks between Jasper and Lorenz, and while her gaze does finally settle on him, it's not fully, and every now and again she glances back when she's sure that she's about to beat the other Gem down, to pull and drag her under their shared mindscape.]

I just... [Her hands flex and ball into fists intermittently.] I didn't- need to, but I took everything out on her. I enjoyed it, worst of all.
