I won't sell myself short. I've done quite a bit for our mutual friend, especially during our getaway vacation to Ishgard. Even so...I hope to someday be capable of holding my own in a fight.
[Not even for the sake of glory or anything so trivial. Survival is what she cares about above all else...for obvious reasons.]

Helplessness, though- that would be something he'd be able to sympathize, unwillingly, with. A horrid experience.]
Well... here, at least, all have been reduced to a level much closer to where you would be starting from. [Is there some bitterness there? Most assuredly.] Even if you can't catch up entirely to those with a natural affinity for violence, with effort, you might be able to hold your own moreso than you would otherwise.
[Survival is a much more valid thing to fight for, really.]

All she wants to do is survive. It's been that way her entire life. While Emet-Selch may see her as a being that isn't fully formed or actualized from his standpoint, it's impossible to deny the will that Tataru seems to possess. His words are a comfort and encouragement all the same, even if there's a tinge of bitterness coating them. She straightens in place, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.]
You're right. It would be foolish of me to not take advantage of the opportunity presented to better my skills. I've been practicing and studying...but it hasn't been enough. I've no desire to be a hero but I'll be damned if I can't learn how to protect myself. [There's a small pause as she lifts a finger to wag at him, teasingly.] You're to still help me, you know!
[Gotta learn that dank
Ascianmagic. The commotion seems to have faded away, Ul'dah itself shifting into a setting of how it was before tragedy unfolded, the hum of the city returning outside. With the Lalafell's smile growing wider she gestures toward the exit, offering up an invitation to the Garlean.]
I know it may not be to your Garlean tastes, but would you like to take a look around with me before we go? I promise I won't make you walk too much in the hot sun.

As soon as we awake, I'll be sure to seek you out.
[Except then he doesn't wake up and it's a mess for a few days... but after that, at least he'll be able to stay awake during those lessons! It's all uphill from here....
But the scene changes, and has Emet-Selch glancing around, taking in the new hum of a city intact. Either restored and blissfully unaware of what awaited it, or successfully rebuilt, he can't tell- but it's an offer that gets a half-shrug, but a slow pace towards the exit and the bustle of the city proper.]
Garlemald is not to my tastes either, so Ul'dah will undoubtedly be no worse. [There was Amaurot and then... everything else was on a level of 'not as good'.] Were there any areas you particularly favored? Any fond memories of the city?
[Or was it all shady business and child labor?]

Quite a few! It was my home. I've always been fond of the markets and I'll admit I've had quite a few interesting evenings at The Gold Saucer...
[That sounds...shadier than it actually is.]
