A. Into the Wilde
[The vampire transformation is progressing. No surprises there; Keith knows better than to waste time hoping that it'll stop or that it'll get easier. He's known for some time now that he's meant to be dying -- not now, maybe not even soon, but it gets harder and harder to ignore when he can tell he's getting tired faster than he should. Weaker than he was back home.
But he's determined to make up for the deficit with more training, more fighting. He'll just get stronger to compensate. Take out his frustrations on the murderous creatures that live beyond the safety of the walls. It might be reckless, but it's the best option he has for an outlet right now.
It's eerily quiet out by this patch of forest, the trees thick enough that sunlight doesn't quite filter through. Some of the leaves on the ground are smeared with darkened blood, though it isn't until further down along the path that the reason for the quiet makes itself known. Suspended between trees are large, intricate webs -- some of which still have the corpses of other monsters bundled up tight in silk cocoons.
As for the Arachne responsible for it? There's a cave a little further down the trail. Drawing one of the swords on his back, Keith glances around the area. Perhaps you're also looking for a fight, or maybe you're just lost in the wilde. Either way, when he spots you, he nods.]
You coming?
B. Dolly Mine
[The job he'd taken on had seemed fairly simple at first. Just how bad could rounding up a few cursed toys be? It's what he continues to think as he wanders the streets looking for any signs of the creepy things.
Or well, so he thought.
Down an alleyway, giggling is audible, along with several child-like saccharine voices.]
Come play with me~
[The dolls emerge from the shadows, arms outstretched and taking clumsy steps. but there's something even more off about these particular dolls. They've got an enchantment on them -- an illusion spell. Maybe they look like someone you miss. A friend, a sibling, a parent, a lover. One way or another, it's coming towards you, looking for a hug.
And even Keith seems to be a little thrown by it.[
... Are you seeing what I'm seeing?
C. A Pirate's LIfe
1.[For anyone wandering the deck, they'll find Keith sharpening a knife and looking like he just wants to get the hell off this ship. He's spent virtually his whole life in the desert and as much as he likes adventuring, he just wants the boat to stop rocking so damn much. Get close enough and you'll hear him muttering while sharpening a knife:]
This is the worst
2. [But of course, things on board the ship weren't going to stay peaceful. Haha, why would they? The tall dorsal fins that slice swiftly through the water are the first sign of trouble, followed by a large impact that rocks the entire ship. Several merrow pirates burst out of the ocean, drawing spears and swords as they hack and slice their way towards the cargohold.
Maybe you're running for cover, maybe you're getting geared up for action. Either way, Keith's shouting out to you:]
Stay back if you don't know what you're doing!

pirate's life 1!
Oh yeah? What makes you say that?
no subject
IIt's just... I've never been on a boat before.
[Which is true enough, but....]
Sorry, who are you?
no subject
Yeah? Me neither! Doesn't seem like you're enjoying it, but that's okay! Just don't pass out on me, okay?
[ way to call him out. still, she's grinning at him, sitting down to keep herself from toppling over. the current's a little stronger now. ]
I'm Sylvia, I got recruited to help out with the cargo today. What's your name?
A
I am. For now I will follow your lead.
[ He's a stranger, but he seems competent enough. ]
no subject
Alright, let's get moving then.
[He cocks his head towards the entrance of the cave.]
I think it's hiding in there. [Though he takes another glance at the surrounding trees. Aside from the remants of large intricate webs, there aren't any signs of arachne in their immediate vicinity.]
Question is... do we try and draw it out here or go in there?
[And then clearly in after thought:]
Keith. By the way.
no subject
I think drawing it out would be more to our advantage. We will have more space to maneuver and the archane will not have as much of an advantage if it isn't in its lair. We don't know what traps or pitfalls it may have established...
[ Oh, right. Introductions. ]
You may call me Saber. [ She dips her head in a nod. ]
Well-met, Keith.
