Fae Fancies! (Closed)

Who: Bernadetta and plotting partners!
When: Throughout the month
Where: Various locations
What: The full moon is bringing about one more full Fae. And she's feeling mischievous and impulsive...
Warnings: Cute pranks, theft... Seriously, it probably won't be that bad. But as usual there will be a warning for possible mentions of past child abuse just in case.

For reference Bernie's physical changes will include the following:
- A shrinkage of a foot (she's now 4'5")
- Damselfly wings that are nice and long and purple
- Some purple scaling along her legs, arms, neck, and back. Tiny bit goes onto her face.
- Pointed ears
- Thin antennae near her temples coming from her hair
- No whites to her eyes and upon closer inspection they'll look compound despite their human shape
- Eyes (still human shaped) will be larger in appearance
- Body releases glittery dust when it's touched so sparkles EVERYWHERE

During the full moon the physical changes will include:
- Wings shifting in color
- Longer fingers and limbs to look sinewy
- Eyes electrically bright with magic

[Well she's had...some issues with some people back home. A person back home. But she doesn't say it out loud. Instead she just blinks in surprise.]

It's okay. I'm used to it. I'm pretty useless so people just think I get in the way. But they don't have to say anything if I'm not there...

[It's a lesson she learned from her childhood. From the hands of her own father.]

[He stops walking, taking Bernadetta by the arm gently to stop her, too.]

What do you enjoy doing?

[She jumps a little but the touch is gentle so she relaxes quickly. But when you're pretty used to wondering if someone is going to smack you when you're getting to know them...]

I...um... I like cooking. And embroidery.

[And some other things too but maybe if she just starts small.]

Well, cooking is important. And I think embroidery is a good skill to have, too. You could teach other people how to do it, and I bet it would be relaxing for them.

[He admittedly knows nothing about embroidery, but it probably relaxes you, right?]

See? You're already capable of feeding people and providing an enjoyable hobby. Is there anything else?

[She'd...be able to do that? Bernie finds herself looking at her own hands as he gentle spells this out for her. But in a rational way that makes a kind of sense.]

Um...gardening? And painting?

[Could she actually be useful to people like that? She's been doubting herself more off and on after a talk with Edelgard. So to hear from someone who she isn't as close to saying this...

It's...kind of hopeful?]

Gardening... well, you could grow fruits and vegetables for your cooking. It's good, healthy food. And you know, many people find art to be inspiring. It makes for a good gift, too. You could even sell your paintings, and make a profit off them.

[He smiles, confident in her abilities even if she isn't.]

If I told you that I could cook, paint, garden and embroider, would you think me useless?

N-no! Of course not!

[It's so easy for her to think so highly of others. Because they're obviously more impressive than herself...]

There you have it, then. Those skills don't suddenly become useless the moment you can say you're good at them.

[He smile softens, and he looks down at her earnestly.]

You're too hard on yourself. You're worth more than that, I promise you.

[Her cheeks color as she looks up at him. His smile is so nice on his handsome face but really it's the words that get to her. The skills are useful. It's just her making them bad. They're still useful to others.]

I'm...

[She smiles a little.]

I'm sorry. Father told me that I was useless to him and tried so hard to train me to be a good wife. But I just never could live up to it. Sometimes it's hard to stop listening to him even though he's not hear tying a rope around me anymore.

Your father should have encouraged you. In any case, you have so much potential- it would be a shame to see you never live up to that. What do you want to do?

[He tilts his head slightly.]

I want...

[She hesitates as she realizes that she truly does know what she wants. She's known for awhile. Bernie looks down as it hits her fully now with someone really asking her.]

I want a quiet life where I can paint and cook and read. And garden and write and sew. Without war or having to run the domain of House Varley.
