[ Vanitas has already spent enough time watching the meteor shower. He's a little dazed and confused trying to walk back to the house and there's a reason for it, but that's neither here nor there.

He is soon distracted by all of the colorful little glowing things now fluttering around. The natives seem amused by it, but Vanitas does not. Red and yellow seem to want to linger close to him as well as blue, but he keeps batting them away before any single bug can actually hand on him. ]

Go away and bother someone else!


( Pile's Plantagorium: A )

[ Earning some funds by growing plants? Well count Vanitas in. It's not that he went out with the mindset that he is going to specialize in flora. In fact, it isn't as though Vanitas really finds any relaxation or enjoyment in this activity. However, he is good at it and he believes plants are easier to deal with than people are.

So, sure. Vanitas spends plenty of time helping out on that rooftop, tending to and growing what seedlings tare there. Vanitas can be seen putting his talent to use, standing above flower beds and soon seeds become greenery and leaves. Then they begin to bloom in an array of colors. ]

[ Buuuut there's more to be had if he ventures outside, right? Vanitas is standing right at the edge of the Wall. His Keyblade, Void Gear, is strapped to his back. The problem is, Van sure doesn't know what is a deadly plant or what isn't. So maybe stop him before he goes out and offer a hand?

Or maybe Vanitas is encountered already exploring beyond the wall. He has a plant isolated, it's true. It doesn't look sick... But those are a lot of sharp looking thorns on it. That's probably not a very good thing to bring back, but it looks like Vanitas doesn't really care. Only... he's kind of circling it. Looking for how he can get a cutting of it. ]

( Out of the City )

[ Once again Vanitas takes the opportunity to not stick around the city. When the chance is offered to venture beyond the Wall to one of the settlements, Vanitas takes it. He makes sure to leave a note stating that he'll be out. Doesn't state why or for how long because who needs to know that? He played it pretty safe last month by staying within the city walls so naturally Vanitas needs to get out and actually do something.

To get rid of some of his restless, excess energy, Vanitas takes to patrolling around the settlement he is brought to. There are plenty of infected monsters in the area and the spar he had last month isn't enough. Thus he can be found engaging in battle, fierce grin on his face and laughing. It's almost like he's enjoying every single moment that he cuts down one of those monsters, hurling around Void Gear like it weighs nothing. There's no magic used, just brute strength.

And when Vanitas tires of this - not that he will ever fully tire - there is something else he can do. Don't get him wrong it's not that he cares about these people. He doesn't, at all. Vanitas isn't doing this for their sake, but for his own. He joins some of the other Witches that have set up healing stations. Vanitas, see, has been working on the healing artes for months. Now he's putting himself to the test to see just how much mastery he has over those skills. Feel free to bother him or tease. ]

( Book shopping )

[ Vanitas enjoys being self-sufficient. He doesn't like to rely on others, though there are at least a few people out there that... Well he'll let them help him out if he really needs it. Over all? Vanitas still is uneasy. Normally that would be his motivation for getting out and learning anything.

That's not the case this time, but he's going to keep that to himself. Instead he's at this bookstore, going through the shelves. However, Vanitas looks more and more irritated as he goes. ]

Augh. This one's useless too.

[ He's getting aggravated enough that he's not bothering to put all of the useless ones back. Nope. There's starting to be a book scattered here and there. ]

Why is this proving to be so difficult!?

[ All he wants is a ding dang recipe book. To meet certain Monster dietary requirements. ]

What are the symptoms you're dealing with?

You know full well what I mean. My fractured heart. Don't think that just because I can't have Ventus that I have given up on becoming a whole being once more.

[ Which, what Vanitas doesn't say, is what his Bonds are actually doing. The more he has, the more healing that will take place over time. What Vanitas doesn't know is how that will shift and change - what that will mean for him over time. Ventus slept while Sora repaired his heart, after all. So no one can know how the process works for someone who is awake and aware. ]

But since you asked - not that I think you can help... The last couple of months I've been having issues breathing and my chest feels too tight. With it usually comes something like hot flashes.

[A blink.

Then he leans close to Vanitas, placing the back of his hand against his forehead.]

You don't seem like you're coming down with a fever.

[He pulls his hand back before Vanitas decides to bite him or something. Not that he expects him to but still.]

Does it only happen under specific conditions?

[Breathing issues, tight chest. Hot flashes. Usual symptoms of an illness, but wait. Vanitas said it might be connected to his "condition" combined with a Bond.

....He wants to get a little more information before he tells Vanitas what he thinks.]

[ Vanitas blinks at the sudden hand on his head. It's true that he could bite, but he won't. It's taken a great deal of effort and time to get him to not immediately respond in an aggressive nature to gestures like this. However it still throws him off. ]

I've never been sick due to illness.

[ Only because of magic build-up within his body. It is the very reason that Witches need a Bond to a Monster. Vanitas frowns at the question, but elects to answer it. ]

There are somewhat specific conditions. Hence the reason I thought it was likely related to the Bond I share with someone.

[Lavi is quiet for a moment.

Then he blinks. Slowly.]

One last question. Does it make you feel like your stomach is turning? Or getting some kind of fluttery feeling?

[ Vanitas stops looking at the book. Instead he looks up at Lavi, nose scrunched a little in something like disgust. How does... ]

Occasionally.

[ That definitely did happen at the meteor showers earlier this month. Only Vanitas wasn't sure if it was him or if it was generating from Sora. Perhaps both of them? ]

[That answers it.]

Yeah, sounds like you're falling in love, Vanitas.

[ Love? ...What does he mean - ]

[ Wait. Like love love? Gross, icky, romantic crap like that? ]

[ But it's just Sora. The brat. The person that occupied the same space as him. Vanitas knows that the other experiences some of the same emotions which would also kind of imply... ]

[ AUGH! This is stupid. There's no way that can be right! Lavi just has to be pulling his leg.

Besides it's not like Van is really capable of an emotion like THAT right? Not yet...? ]

[ Yeah, that's probably what is going on here. Lavi saw an opening to tease him and went for it. And Vanitas almost fell for it.

Jerk. ]

[ [ Thus Vanitas pulls himself together, one part embarrassed for being so susceptible. The other is agitated because he feels as though he's no closer to the actual answer. ] ]

Ha ha. You've had your fun. Almost got me, I'll admit.

[That's okay. Take your time, Vanitas.

Lavi is flipping through pages and glancing at it and at him. There's obvious amusement on his face even as he turns the next page.]

But I'm not wrong. The symptoms all falls close together, especially the fluttering in your stomach.

[He tries not to grin. Keyword: tries.]

What else could it be? It's more obvious if you find yourself thinking about a certain person and they make you feel differently from everyone else around you.

I certainly think about Ventus a lot too, you realize. He definitely makes me feel differently from everyone else. There's no chance I'm in love with him.

[ That's... Not the same thing. Though the grin on Lavi's face is not helping to convince Vanitas of anything other than the guy is having a bit of fun with this. ]

[He taps his finger on the cover of a book.]

If you don't believe me, experiment with it a little bit. If you keep getting fluttery feelings, combined with more hot flashes or even your heart racing, then there's a ninety-nine percent that you're in love with that person. The other one percent is that you're actually coming down with something.

[He...kinda feels for you, dude.

Lavi wouldn't exactly be accepting if someone told him he's falling in love either.]

Or talk to anyone else you're close to and see if they give you the same answer.

[ You know, Vanitas is starting to think that Lavi is actually serious. The guy might not be trying to mess with Vanitas. He doesn't know if that is better or worse. He tsks, metaphorical feathers ruffled. ]

Tch. Even if it is true, that only makes the situation all the more probl -

[ Unfortunately Vanitas gets a message right then and there. His hand slaps over the thing and he huffs. ]

[He's in between joking and being serious.

Unfortunately for Vanitas, it's hard to tell right now with the mirth in his tone as he speaks. His eye glances down at the device and he really needs to bite back the grin threatening to break out.]

Once you figure it out, try giving the person a kiss, too. On the cheek or on the lips--usually a good way to see if that'll stir up some fluttery feelings.

[ Oh Vanitas isn't naive or stupid when it comes to that. Though there are some thoughts now. Is that... Was that the purpose behind Sora's actions? To see if it would stir things up? Probably not. The brat doesn't really think before doing so there had to be another reason for that.

A-and not all of those are because of things like love either. The idea is just so ridiculous to Vanitas. Yet he's getting a little sick to his gut too. Is that a normal reaction? ]

Augh. No. No way.

Just think about it.

[If he knows who's the reason behind Vanitas' feelings, he'd enjoy it.

So Vanitas is safe there.

Lavi just closes the book he's holding and sets it on the table before picking up another book.]

It doesn't hurt to try. But if you want a more definite solution, a kiss on the lips usually helps solve things.

[Not always, but it's Vanitas. He's sure whomever he has feelings for would be okay. (He thinks.)]
