[Dimitri's attention is rapt - he maintains eye contact while Petra speaks, listens to her every word, and hears her tone as well. It's honest, just as Edelgard's had sounded when she'd explained everything to him.

It was the most she'd dared reveal before him since their arrival at Garreg Mach.

Believing that the future - and even his present - could exist in so many different ways at once is difficult...

But he wants Edelgard's honesty to be genuine. Just as much as he wants the war to end without an Imperial rule over a demolished Fodlan.

Dimitri shifts in his chair, the wood creaking audibly as his weight bares down on it.] I agree.

Edelgard isn't one to talk openly - if she's doing it, there must be a reason. I don't believe she'd go to such lengths to deceive us.

[A sharp inhale.] Even assuming she's been truthful, I cannot condone what she's done. I must thank you... for fighting to quell the war in Fodlan.

[It was a very difficult thing to wrap one's head around, not only that the worlds around them seemed different but that their decisions and path within that world could also be vastly different.]

I could not be agreeing with war either... Not with so much suddenness. Many innocent people will suffer but she is thinking it still has worth.

Byleth and Claude were both asking me if I was wanting to help them with the fighting. For Brigid... fighting the Empire would have a risk but will be giving us freedom if we are winning. I was not wanting all of Fodlan to be like Brigid and I was not wanting Brigid to be helping the Empire.

[Her decision hadn't been an easy one and it still remained to be seen whether her choice would bring the ire of the Empire down on her beloved homeland again. Only time would tell.]

... How much did she and the others tell you? It may have danger to be knowing of the future...
