. tataru
He lowers it, looking over the glowing yellow thing with fondness for just a moment before trying to gently...blow it away and on with its evening. The insect doesn't budge. He blows again, to the same effect, and then shakes the telescope.
Still, it sits, flashing its light as lazily as before.
He tries to nudge it with his finger, to no success... Any harder, and he might hurt the thing.
At a loss, Dimitri stands like a tall blond doofus in the middl of a crowd, locked in a stupid staring contest with a stubborn little bug.]

Smiling she goes up to him, a small twig in hand, before she's tapping him against the leg with it.]
Here, you ought to use this. It'll work better than a finger.

Oh!
Thank you. [He bends at the knees to lower himself to the child's height before taking the stick.] You're pretty resourceful, aren't you?
[With a gentle prying motion, Dimitri manages to dislodge the comet fly. It takes to the air, but only briefly, coming to land on Dimitri's nose.
His nostrils flare and his face scrunches in surprise - but he manages to not swipe at it and squish it on his face, instead forcing his body rigidly still.]

[Tataru may be small and sport rounded, sweet features, but she's no child. For now though she's unaware of Dimitri's assumption of her age, amused at his inability to rid himself of the insect.]
It must be rather fond of you.
[Or just stubborn.]
Here, lower yourself and I'll help free your nose from it.

Dimitri strains to focus on the creature; its gentle glow seems too bright this close to his eyes. He can't adjust, and just ends up continuing to make some sort of stink face while he tries.]
Thank you-
[He leans forward as bidden, sticking his neck out so the child can brush it away. When it departs, it will leave a faint yellow glow on his nose, and a sense of calm that seems to melt into the night itself.]

[She's all smiles, as she usually is, glad to have swatted the little creature away without harming it.]
You seem like a new face. My name's Tataru Taru! What's yours?
[Might as well introduce herself, right?]

Dimitri - it's nice to meet you, Tataru. [Hunched over, arms rested on his knees, Dimitri can't offer a handshake or a bow, so he gives a nod instead.]
Are you a local, or mirrorbound?
no subject
[She's cheery enough in her response, not minding as he makes himself more on her level.]
I haven't been here for very long though. A few months at best? [Has it really been that long?] But I've managed to become rather settled. How about yourself?

Dimitri truly hasn't considered that question before this very moment. He has a place to live, and a routine forming, but there's something missing.
He ends his awkward pause by clearing his throat.] I suppose I'm on my way to it.
Though if you have any suggestions to ease my path, I'd love to hear them. [On one hand appeasing a child's desire to share, and on the other...
truly seeking guidance.]
this is the crustiest tag and im so sorry pls love me
The best thing one can do is keep themselves busy. To find some sort of employment. Is there anything you're skilled at?
i do love you
Dimitri has considered temporary jobs and task based exchanges, but nothing long term. He supposes that's due to his station as a Prince, but that title has no meaning here.
So he really should be out there looking for employment, shouldn't he?
The young girl predicts his next concern with ease - he doesn't know what he's suited for.] I'm good with my hands, I suppose.
I'm comfortable lifting heavy weights, and doing any manner of physical work. I'm also capable on the battlefield. [He adds the last bit with a little hesitation, he doesn't want to make a profession out of killing.]
Any ideas for me?

[There's a sound of consideration as she taps a finger against her chin, in a bid to brainstorm what Dimitri could potentially do for work.]
If you're good with manual labour, you could always help down at the docks or work at one of the taverns there. I perform and waitress at one of the taverns sometimes and they always seem as if they need an extra pair of hands to help when supplies come in. It's also a great place to make connections.
