🌸Tea Time🌸

After all the fussing and effort put into decorating Sylvain's ballroom, Tataru and her "assistants" have transformed the area into one worthy of inviting princesses to high tea. Tables have been set up throughout the ballroom, flowers and other decorations adorning the tables and walls. Little Ladies are invited to sit where they please to be served while live music plays. When it comes to tasty treats and drinks (both alcoholic and not), there's a special menu to choose from, along with your standard high tea fair of scones, tea sandwiches, petit fours and of course, tea. Loyal Seneschals are at the beck and call of their Ladies, whether they're focused on one particular individual or a group.

Socializing is encouraged and if Ladies tire of sitting at the tables to snack and sip away at their tea, they're encouraged to relax and recline in the Tête-à-Tête sofas set up in another area of the room, either with another fellow Lady or a Seneschal who's willing to charm them or show off their listening skills. There is, of course, space free for those who wish to use the ballroom as it was intended to be - for dancing - and with the lively music filling the room why not take the opportunity to? It's all in good fun, after all.

🌸Lights! Camera! Action!🌸

Prompto finally has his camera working again and Tataru's decided it would be a great idea for him to participate as a photographer and get new clients for his photography business! One of the activities of Little Ladies' Day back in Eorzea is Ladies posing in front of backdrops that are set up around the city-states. To emulate this exciting experience, various backdrops have been set up outside in the yard for Little Ladies to have their photographs taken. The main attraction? A chocobo drawn carriage for that special princess aesthetic. Yeah...

There is also a dressing room area for Ladies to get dressed up or borrow a few donated outfits for the event (from local shops), if they were unable to get their own gear to wear, if they so wish to do so. The room itself that contains said outfits has been turned into a makeshift powder room with a mirror and vanity space for touch ups. Every Little Lady ought to look their best, after all.

🌸Adorable Adoption🌸

Hector has volunteered to bring a few well-behaved fuzzy friends along (cats and dogs) for Little Ladies to play with and pet. All the animals will be up for adoption, and would make good Familiars for Witches who might need one in their lives. His makeshift petting zoo is set up in a segregated area of the yard, to make sure no animals go missing. Everyone who is an animal lover is encouraged to play, pet and love on the animals that have been brought along. If you do wish to adopt one, you'll have to be up to Hector's standards however. They deserve to go to good homes, after all!

What does it mean to be a Loyal Seneschal or Little Lady?: The role of Seneschal is quite fluid; ultimately it hinges on making sure no Lady goes without a smile on their face during their special day. Whether that's through serving them, entertaining them, being a companion or maybe going home with them to help them do a few chores around their house...it's seriously up to you! Get creative! If you're a Little Lady all that means is that you're a woman and it's Your Day to be Appreciated. Own it. (And no, don't even think about trying to be a Seneschal if you're a Lady - Tataru will hunt you down.)
How will my character find out about the event?: If your character didn't see Tataru's post about it on the network for whatever reason, she's also been sticking flyers up around the city for it. Tataru's quite the busybody so if you need to come up with an excuse for your character/their business to get involved feel free to have them either have heard of it from local businesses that are participating in the festivities, the flyers or even Tataru herself if they have CR of some kind.

I want to play around with Little Ladies' Day after the tea event!: Go for it! Tataru's been working hard hustling local businesses and Mirrorbound alike to participate in the Eorzean tradition. Making a compelling case to incorporate it into Eostre's festivities, she's managed to arrange a few collaborations for the Ladies of Aefenglom to enjoy. Feel free to play around with local cafes or shops that may have special menus or deals on made in the spirit of the holiday. Also go wild when it comes to playing up your Little Lady and Loyal Seneschal roles. It's All Women Are Queens Day, after all.

[This kitten has picked out the best seat in the house, hasn't she?]

And since she's a lady, you're required to spoil her today.

[Look, Hector doesn't make the rules. Tataru does, apparently.]

You're very sweet.

[Hector, you're not jealous of her, are you? She laughed quietly, and moved to peck Hector on the cheek.]

If that's the truth, I should get some treats for the lady. Will you help me?

[Hector preens a little under the attention.]

You don't have to get up. I can bring them to you.

[He came prepared to host this little petting zoo, which includes some treats to bribe some of his shyer animals into playing along.]

[Really, he just needed some positive reinforcement and attention, making her amused. But of course, he was more going for the little lady then her.

Cats before...well she wasn't sure how to end that thought without making it extremely dirty.]

Thank you Hector. I'm sure she'll be thanking you in a few seconds.

[Hector gets up and goes to find the treats. Of course, as soon as he pulls them out, there is a mob of dogs and cats around him, all begging for a morsel, and Hector is weak to them. It takes him a couple of minutes to get them all settled before he returns to Sokie's side, and when he does, he still has a little train of hopeful animals following in his shadow.]

Here.

[He hands over a couple of little pellets. They came from Connor's store, and most of his cats seemed to like them.]

Ignore the others. They are shameless beggars, and they've already had theirs.

[He intercepts one particularly bold cat and pulls it into his own lap to keep it from trying to steal from Sokie's kitten.]

[It's like he's got a parade of creatures, and he spoils them all. Even the cuddly white kitten sits up, purring, at the sound of treats, and she assumes, the smell.

Really, it's a surprise that the little cat hasn't moved away-but she might have known that the food was coming.

Plus, with a loud purring chirp, she stood up, getting her little paws on Sokie's chest.]

They might get some anyway, if this little lady doesn't want any.

[Or maybe they will, who knows. After Sokie stroked the kitten's head, offered one of the pellets, which was taken delicately from her fingers.]

What's in these pellets anyway?

[Hector snorts out a laugh.]

She acts like a little lady, but trust me, she won't pass up on the treats.

[Hector tosses a couple of treats across the pen to get the beggars away from Sokie's kitten. They go running to sniff them out, making a chase of it.]

I don't know the full recipe, but I think it's mostly flour, meat, and a little fat. These ones have fish for a base. The store carried beef as well, but the smell was a little strong.

[Hector hasn't eaten red meat since his faun-transformation started in earnest, and since his pets weren't picky, he'd stuck to buying the treats that were less offensive to his nose.]

[She feels something nudge her hand, and the little kitten is...well. Nipping at her fingers.]

Looks like you're right. Girl, those are fingers, not treats.

[Thankfully the little lady sticks close, knowing there's Treat!!! Right!!! There!!! Which Sokie gives after the attempt to eat her finger tips is done.]

I'd have thought the fish smell would be more noticeable but...then again, you're likely more sensitive to red meat these days, aren't you?

[That must be torture to walk through market sometimes. She just hopes Everett never told him about...well, why he wears his particular cologne.]

Don't let her get a taste for blood. She has to come home with me when this is done.

[He's trained most of the older animals out of nipping at fingers, but this one is too young to have learned the lesson. At least her little teeth lack strength when they bite.]

...yes. It didn't used to bother me. Now I have to take steps to avoid it.

[And he does know about Everett's cologne, and rolled his eyes at it.]

You forget Hector, I'm a abjuerist. She can't so much as nick my fingers if I don't allow it.

[The little lady is too young to know better, but she's not going to get a taste of witch blood, even if she bites hard. Or even with those sharp milk teeth.

But even as she feeds the little cat a treat, she makes a soft noise.]

That's too bad. At least it means you can enjoy a more vegetarian diet. Back where I'm from, there are people who are trying to eat less meat, or animal products all together, if you could believe it.

[Everett has a terrible sense of humor. She knows, because she's into it.]

Oh? Is your magic always on? That must make you practically invincible.

[Hector wonders what that would be like, to be truly safe. It's not the first time he's had the gut-deep regret that he didn't become a witch.]

Meat was a luxury in my world. Peasants looked forward to feast days when they could indulge, and nobles had it often as a show of status. It's strange to think of people who can eat it refusing it.

[But then again, now he's the one turning his nose up at it.]

Oh, not always, else I'd feel sick all the time. I just...know how to fine tune it a bit. I've practiced quite a bit you see.

You could have some similar protection, if only for a little while. If not tattoos-then my eyeliner and some understanding of runes should help you.

[He doesn't have to be a witch to have some protection. She hummed quietly; she understood that all too well.]

Oh, it's very interesting when it comes to it. What they can do for flavor, and how some of them suffer because they're not feeding themselves well.

Though I think the wildest thing I've heard of as a reason is allergies that flare up due to...I think it's after a tick bite? Or something?

[The world is wild Hector. Wild.]

[He's only ever had the one type of magic. He knows so little about the other veins. He should learn more, but considering he can never hope to master them, he's lacked motivation thus far. When his nature magic manifests, he'll dive into that.]

There's a theory that rats carry plague. Maybe ticks can carry the allergies you speak of. Pestilence comes in all sizes and shapes.

[Wild indeed.]

Actually, no. I made a whole alchemy formula awhile back. Eyeliner is just easier to draw with if you're trying to do it on skin.

[She shrugs. If he's not into that, that's fine. But it's an option if he's interested in it.]

It's certainly possible. I'm familiar with the flea-rat carrier concept, just not the whole tick-making-people-meat allergic one.

Diseases and viruses are absolutely nuts.

[Right now, Hector's still lulled into a false sense of security. He'll relearn what it means to be in danger when rogue mirrorbound begin to emerge from mirrors.]

I wouldn't know what to do with any of it. The product, that is. I have at least some understanding of alchemy.

[The talk about death and disease is much easier and more familiar territory.]

It's at least more likely than the idea of the four humors as the basis for medicine. [Humorism is a terrible concept. It's like the word 'moist' in the form of pseudo-science.]

[Yeah, that'll throw everyone off their game tbh.]

I can teach you if you'd like. The formula, but I can teach you how it's used too. Thankfully, it's easy to wipe off with some soap and water.

[She does like talking about death too, so they're having a great time. She laughs.]

Oh gosh, I hated that. The humors- it makes as much sense as using dog leavings to cure blindness.

[Which is to say, no sense at all.]

I'm glad I was never taught that with any seriousness.

Do you think I'd be able to use the formula, if I don't have power to put behind it?

[Alchemy without magic is chemistry, which Hector has less knowledge of.

He also still suspects that Sokie finds the idea of him in eyeliner amusing.]

Yes, it's the worst, but the sciences were in shambles on my home world. It's part of why I went to work with the vampires. Lord Dracula had preserved the true sciences within his keep while the rest of the world fell to darkness.

You can. The way the power works for alchemy is the magic is in what you put into it, not in yourself.

[Though yes, Hector with a cat eye tho. Gently, she scratches the kitten under the chin.]

I guess you could say that you killed for a chance to look over Lord Dracula's libraries?

[That gives Sokie a flat look. A little too on the nose there.]

Lord Dracula was equipped to change the world for the better.

[Yes, he did kill for that opportunity, and it hadn't turned out how he'd hoped at all. It's not something he's ready to joke about.]

And he was poised to do it, before he lost his wife. Then everything went wrong. The potential age of enlightenment, extinguished with a single life.

[A little too much, but she still thinks it was a really droll joke.

And hearing that...she sighed, shaking her head.]

It wouldn't have been that easy Hector. You know that, don't you?

If it wasn't his wife, they would have hunted him instead.

Yes, I'm aware of how naive it sounds.

[Still, Hector had believed. It's probably hard for people who never met Dracula to understand. But he had a way of inspiring loyalty.]

The world won't change. It was a foolish attempt.

No.

[She sighed, and she moved to wrap an arm around Hector's shoulders. Come here you. She's hugging you now.]

It's not that the world won't change, it just needs a subtle touch. A loosening of the powerful holds. This is a plan that would have had to gradually spread throughout the country, if not the world, and taken decades.

You're too easy to push down Hector.

[Hector leans into Sokie's side. He's like one of his strays, eager for a gentle touch. Even if she's going to lecture him, he'll take it along with the attention.]

If it takes so long, I'll never see any of those changes come to pass.

[He's easy to push, because he's been routinely pushed by powerful forces. There's no point in even asking her not to keep pushing.]
