Flyers For All [Closed]
Who: Tataru & Cloud
When: Sometime before Eostre
Where: Within the city.
What: Tataru's putting up flyers for Little Ladies' Day and can only reach so high...here comes Cloud to the rescue. (But let's be honest, she's probably just bullied him into it.)
Warnings: N/A
[It was finally coming together. After all the talks she'd had with the Coven and various local businesses in a bid to garner their support for Little Ladies' Day, she'd managed to convince most she'd spoken with the importance of the event. They were on board and willing to help or celebrate in some way and honestly? She couldn't be happier. Now all that was left was to get the word out as much as possible.
With a pile of flyers stuffed carefully in a satchel draped across her middle, Tataru's been scurrying around town, tacking them up for Little Ladies' Day wherever she deems it appropriate. There's only been one drawback, one she realized after pasting up the first ten - she's far too short to reach the best spots to stick the flyers! What a travesty!
Or it would be, if she hadn't caught the sight of a lean, muscled man out of the corner of her eye, with lovely golden hair and pretty eyes. The sword, most of all, is what makes him stand out from those who walk by, but he doesn't seem to be that preoccupied. Yes. Perfect. Maybe if she plays her cards right he'll help her out.]
Excuse me, Sir!
[Tataru hurries over to where Cloud is, waving a hand in his direction, bouncing a bit on her toes in a bid to be seen. She's used to being overlooked, after all, and so it's simply standard Lalafellian manners to make enough movement to grab one's attention.]
I was wondering if you would be able to assist me?

But that was weeks ago. Even though the holiday hadn't actually happened yet, it's more or less done in his head. Kadaj had gathered what he needed to gather in order to give Aerith his gift. Cloud's part in it had been to make sure that the gift wasn't toxic- because honestly, it was Kadaj. Who knew. His part in it wasn't to be known. If anything, because her knowing he'd ...contributed... was...
No.
It's embarrassing.
Regardless, all that said and done, his attention had moved to other things. The job board, mostly. And he's on his way back from a task when the littlest lady he's ever seen bounces on over, one arm raised- a variety of rolled-up posters underneath her other one.
He slows to a stop, his eyebrows furrowing.
And perhaps he can be forgiven for thinking it, as unaccustomed to Lalafell as he is, but he can't help but look somewhat concerned at what appears to be someone far too young to walk around unaccompanied.
But then she speaks, and...
It's high, but that's an adult's voice, what?]
...You lost?
[Sorry, Tataru. He's not exactly sure what to make of you.]
no subject
[She gives him a wave of her hand at that accompanied by a shake of her head. Tataru is definitely not lost. In fact, she probably knows her way around town better than most Mirrorbound at this point.]
I was wondering if you'd assist me in hanging these flyers up? You seem as if you've got good reach and I would be ever so grateful. I'll even compensate you for your trouble, if you wish.
[Definitely not a child, despite her petite frame and button nose. Her voice might be high but only an adult would speak in such a manner.]
no subject
[Then what is it? What does she want?
He's... pretty perplexed, he can't hide it. Tataru appears alike a child, moves like one too, but as he'd already noted, certainly didn't speak like one. And he should be tipped off by now. But the closer she gets, the more confusing it is.
He's probably staring. He should stop- but he can't work it out.]
...Right, yeah.
[He's... not exactly the tallest. Far from, actually. So being told he's got a good reach is... weird...
But yeah. He gets it. His reach is better than hers. But wait. He just agreed? Okay. Should he... kneel down to accept the posters? Or? No, that's stupid. So... he's going to reach for them. Awkwardly.
And as he does...]
You don't have to pay me. You probably took this job off the bulletin board, right? So don't bother. I don't wanna cut into your margins.
no subject
[Not wanting to cut into her margins? How sweet...or at least it is to the ears of a girl like her. She's eager to hand him the posters when he extends his hand for them, setting them against his palm to take.]
No, actually, this is a task of my own doing. I've organized a celebration of sorts and am trying to get the word out about it.
[Talk about confusing him further, huh? Yeah, she can tell you're looking at her weird.]
...You've never met a Lalafell before, have you?
no subject
Just point out where to put 'em. [And yeah. That statement might've been too abrupt. He should... probably make some conversation. Might smooth that over a little.
...Maybe.
How about a response?]
Yeah?
[He can do better than that.]
...I mean, no. I've not seen a lalafell before. More like... your celebration. Thing. What is it? I heard of something. Some... 'ladies day', or something like that. If it's something else, you're gonna have competition.
no subject
Little Ladies Day!
[She chirps up at him, arms extending with excitement once he's freed her from her posters.]
Yes, I'm the one arranging the celebration. It's an important Eorzean tradition, you see...so I've been working hard to make it possible so Ladies here can celebrate.
no subject
[Shit, wait. Little Ladies Day. This is a little-
and then she says it. She's behind it. That's...
A while ago, he wouldn't have cared. He'd have spoke his mind, regardless of what anyone thought. But things have changed. He's changed, and...
...He gives a damn what people think.
So he tries to explain.]
...Sorry. It's just part of me wonders if all of us'd get home sooner if we spent our energy on that, rather than everything else. That's all.
[A quiet exhale. And.]
That the name of your world? 'Eorzea?' And is here okay?
[A small gesture to a relatively empty patch of wall.]
no subject
He gets a nod out of her at his question, a wagging finger reassuring him that his placement of the flyer is acceptable.]
There is fine, and no, not exactly. The name of the star I hail from is called Hydaelyn. Eorzea is a collection of city-states occupying the continent of Aldenard.
[There's a little geography lesson for you.]
How about you?
no subject
One down. What feels like many, many more to go.
He listens- as well as he can- to the collection of strange-sounding words, strange concepts too (city-states. Each city had some form of self-governance? Sounds like something from a fairy tale.
At the question-]
You wouldn't know it.
[He walks on at that, seemingly content to leave it at that. Some silence follows. But then, with a look back to her...]
It's called Gaia. The planet I'm from. It doesn't have citystates.
[And, as he squares up to another spot and starts putting up a poster...]
You believe we're ever going back?
no subject
I've been told that it isn't possible, and rather lament about such a fact...I rather make myself as comfortable here as I can manage.
[Which means forming connections, making deals and ultimately enough money to live well. She refuses to be unsuccessful, if she can help it.]
But...Gaia, you said? I've made a friend here from a planet with the same name. He's been teaching me how to use a sword effectively. His name is Sephiroth! Perhaps you know him?
[It's more likely than not, when it comes to mirrorbound.]
