[ there's an undead lizard? a wet, feral cat? blocking the path. taking a closer look at this thing, it's a bit hideous. at least, compared to its fellow dragons. its scales look mottled, patches of dark purples and blacks streaking through its coat, and its tail spiny and serpentine. its wings are equipped with unpleasant hooks, the wings' fingers elongated and sharp, their leather worn with holes. not even its fur manages a consistent lack of color. ]
[ but if familiar with the signs — it almost could look like it's cwyld-infected. it receives anxious glances from passerby, others nimbly giving it a healthy berth. it may be the size of a cat, but it does, apparently, have an innate skill in keeping people out of its path. that, and its lower half remains coated with mud, brought on by an recent heavy rain. ]
[ when the dragon appears to recognize someone, its pitch eyes grow wide. it trots near, leaving muddy tracks in its wake. ]
Excuse me. [ ... ah, it's a deep voice. the dragon sits, its head slightly bowed. if one can read dragonic expressions, it looks -- very reluctantly humbled, even if its tone remains lofty. its claws sink into the ground. ] I need your assistance.
ii.
[ his shifting, and the rains, eventually take their toll on viren; it's a fairly miserable existence he's been made to live this week, forced into a form that, while he's beginning to grow accustomed to it, he might also resent. ]
[ when the weather's beaming with brightness again, he crawls to a sunny patch of earth. one may spot a small dragon curled up into a tight ball, its snout tucked beneath a paw -- he can be found in some grass of someone's backyard, in gardens, perhaps even snoozing on a secluded bench. ]

[ viren doesn't think he needs a reprieve (certainly not!) from anything earlier in the month, but the crowds of eostre draw his attention regardless. even if it would typically be something much too noisy for his tastes, dragonic instincts win out, as they're prone to do—
and so he's found himself there some early evening, a cup of that sweet liquor in hand. perhaps consciously compensating for the disarray of the last few weeks, he's dressed neatly, pulling out some of his better clothes for the festivities. unfortunately, even if he isn't the main target (just a target), someone thinks to dump a flower crown atop his head. with the shape of his horns, it's almost like a fun (and very high stakes!) ring toss. a few petals fall to shoulders, some floating onto the surface of his drink. ]
[ with a heavy sigh, aggrieved as he is, viren plucks it from atop his head. he turns to someone near, ]
Would you like this?
[ or else, what with his accompanying gesture, it might get tossed to the bushes. ]

[ he just -- has to be mindful. he almost swerves into a puddle, his wings suddenly opening to help himself regain his balance. worst comes to worst, he can attempt this airborne thing again, he figures. ]
[ except, closer to the patch of woods, eventually they come to a runoff stream of rainwater and mud; it's only about a few feet wide, but difficult to spy where it begins and ends. viren starts to pace along its edge to and fro, apparently having to take time in gauging the shortest distance across. ]

'Kay. [ Juza will just start walking off to the left to look for the end of the stream. ]

it — works. somewhat. but for the landing, which results in him crashing hornfirst into the ground, feet to follow and not quite make purchase. his tail dips into the stream, and a wing gets tucked to his side, jumbled awkwardly. ]
[ a bit dazed, he lifts his head. heck, juza may not even be peering his way, but viren sure does try to look triumphant in his success. he crouches low, curling his tail around himself again. ]
[ he will await u, juza. ]

And then he realizes the dragon made it across.]
Right, you got wings.
[But some people have wings that don't work, so please excuse his surprise.]

[ spoken musingly, almost. viren rights himself to all fours, his front now dirtier than ever after that little stunt. he doesn't want to think of coping with turning into a wingless dragon — or worse, a dragon with wings that wouldn't fly. how incomparable could the creatures be, to the ones he knows? ]
[ he leads into the first line of trees, picking his way over piles leaves and brambles, swerving to avoid puddles of mud. it isn't too long before it seems they're deep enough within the wooded area, away from prying eyes, that he lifts his snout to indicate his things. hence, located at the base of a wide tree:
two satchels (heavy), a folded pile of clothes near. unfortunately, with the rains, the clothes are in a bit more in... disarray, as well as considerably soggier, than how he'd first taken them off. ]

[He did notice the way the clothes were all folded up, it wasn't a full moon either.]

[Should he be turning around so Viren has privacy?]

[ at least his exclamation has some hint of triumph, even if it resulted in ... this, the way he is now. quite obviously (hopefully), he was larger once. viren had watched as juza gathered his things, yet without qualm as to how handles any of it.
the second question gets his eyebrows lifting (or rather, as a dragon, his eyes rounding). ]
... If I could yet turn back [ gravely, with a dry look ], I would have gathered my things myself.

I dunno how it works. [He'll just say it. Maybe Viren wanted to stay tiny. Maybe Viren was so proud of his tiny dragon form he didn't want to leave it right away.] I mean... d'you know how to? Turn back.

[ he begins — admittedly, he's only an academic expert. still working on applying it. ]
Dragons have the human form, as you have seen of mine. We may take on larger forms, but this takes some energy to keep it. And hence, when we must conserve energy... [ he pauses, pointedly, the solidly black eyes peering up at juza. ] this happens.
I know how to turn back, but I don't know if I can, yet.

He also holds his tongue completely because he still doesn't know who this is and he's entirely too awkward to ask. Dragon? Dragon man? Dragon man that has this purplish look? Did he see anybody like that?

[ #experimental. he is hoping a good nap, or whatever is necessary, will put an end to this. ]
[ which -- serves as an awkward reminder as to juza's first question. when he sees the stream coming into view again, he's more uncertain. it gives him pause. he taps a paw against juza's lower leg to draw his attention. this is definitely very silly now, considering his insistence on walking before. ]

[ viren sits, looking very much prepared to be lifted, or otherwise granted access to an arm so he might scamper onto a shoulder. ]

[ and while it may be premature, as they have yet to accomplish the entirety of the mission, he does think it warranted by this point (he's not even carrying anything, and he could understand this to be a hassle): ]

Now that the dragon with his man voice is secure, he'll start walking around the stream.]

[ and then looks off, straight ahead; truthfully, he is going to have to put some effort into not just falling asleep, here. it's the warmth, and the rhythm of a new pace. this will have to be compensated for by paying the upmost of attention to their eventual destination... ]
