[Corrin raised an eyebrow at that, taking in how nonchalant Edelgard seemed about the whole thing. And then she let out a breathless laugh and shook her head.]

We clearly have different definitions of merely.

[She grinned as she moved over to the bear, placing her foot on it's side and gripping her sword with both hands so she could wrench it free, stumbling back a step from the force of the motion.]

Is...a bear not less meddlesome than a wyvern?

[Edelgard is actually a touch confused by this idea. That a bear was a big deal? WEIRD.]

I mean, if you want to compare the two, sure, a wyvern is worse than a bear.

[She rolled her eyes.]

But I'm pretty sure we can't really call this just a 'bear' either.

[It was glowing, Edelgard.]

[She waves Aymr towards it.]

You fought well, and I knew my limits. I don't really think it was much of a threat...

It wasn't, really. But that doesn't make it any less exhilarating. Or nerve wracking.

[Corrin wiped her blade off, frowning at the faintly glowing blood on the blade.]

Are all the animals out here like this, do you think?

No, not all. I've seen a few more normal ones. Mostly birds, but that may be because I'm bad at stealth.

[Like, really bad. TROMP TROMP TROMP]

[Corrin giggled softly at that.]

You do have...something of a presence.

[She agreed with a teasing smile before turning her attention to look up at the trees. Huh.]

I wonder if the birds are safe because they can live above it...

Something to look into, I suppose.

[It could be both!]

Someone must have already, right? The land around the city has been like this forever, they must have...some idea about it.

[Corrin spent more time thinking about this than she was really prepared to admit out loud.]

Part of me thinks maybe we were brought here to fix it.

[Stowing her axe, Edelgard reaches out, putting a hand on Corrin's shoulder in a warrior's embrace.]

I'm glad you feel the same way. Because I think that this is important.

[Some of Corrin's tension faded as she felt Edelgard's hand on her shoulder, and after a moment she grinned.]

It's not really that surprising we agree.

[While she wasn't quite as...intense...as Edelgard could be, Corrin was all about saving the world too.]

Of course, if would help if we had any idea where to start. I do much better when there's an enemy I can fight.

Investigation like this, mostly.

[That's the only place to start, all things considered.]

We need to gather information about the blight and it's surroundings, and we can't do that inside the wall.

[Corrin nodded.]

Yeah, but...

[She was, admittedly, a bit out of her depth.]

What should we be looking for out here? I mean...We can't exactly take an animal back through the wall to poke at.

I...do not know, as of yet. I'm simply here to aid the others by protecting them, the same as you.

This is, I confess, out of my realm of understanding.

[So, leave it to experts.]

[Corrin laughed softly.]

So we'll be the muscle for somebody else's brains?

That's...typically how I operate, honestly. I'm not a strategist.

Me either. Although I guess I faked it pretty well back home when I had to.

[She sucked in a breath and gestured towards the woods.]
