Allura - Open Log Prompts For Mareuer
Who: Allura and [OPEN]
When: Vague times around March
Where: Aefenglom and specifically Diplomatea for some options
What: Allura is getting settled into life here and also experiences her first rainy season
Warnings: None
A. Princess' First Job (At Diplomatea)
[Allura is thankful to Everett, for giving her a chance with his shop. The flowers and the scent of the tea was what drew her in in the first place – when she found herself without a coin to her name for the first time in her life, and the atmosphere had been warm and welcoming. He'd even been kind enough to give her some clothes (or, a uniform, as some put it. Allura thought it was quite cute.)
She's never had a proper job before but she's a hard worker and so far she's been met with nothing but patience. Putting together flowers is her favorite part, though the tea serving took some... learning.
Maybe she's not paying attention, or it's just a bad stroke of luck, but there's a clumsy moment where her knuckle brushes against the heated side of one of the tea kettles – just for a second but it's a second long enough for her to feel a sharp pain and she yanks her hand back with a startled yelp.]
Ah- [She winces, already hearing someone else hurrying over to her side – one of her fellow employees, or a guest perhaps.] I'm alright, just careless.
B. The vague open ended one (Diplomatea)
[It's late one evening, when the lights from the tea shop glowed warm against the cool night air, the business empty and Allura was sitting, enjoying her own cup of tea, her limbs heavy after a long, but good day of work. It was... nice. She still had thoughts of getting home that hung heavy over her, but days like this it was a little easier. To fall into a routine and feel a little more normal than she has since she arrived here.
The bells at the door pull her from her reverie and she looks up, setting the cup down,]
Can I assist you?
C. Rolling up her sleeves. (In town)
[Now that she has a little money to her name there's an item in town that she's been eying for some time – a simple, sturdy wooden trunk from a local carpenter's shop. It's nice and she's been wanting a safe place to put her belongings from her world until it's time to go home (and maybe a safe place to hide shiny valuables from her Merrow housemate.)
Coin exchanged and trunk at her feet, Allura only now realizes a big mistake: When she arrived in Aefenglom it was without any of her Altean-born powers. Which means no hoisting around heavy boxes like they weight nothing. But what to do with the trunk?
It's pure stubbornness that gets her as far as she gets, lifting and hefting and pushing until at some point down the road she has to stop, Panting as she leans to take a rest against the large trunk.]
Stars, how do humans live like this? They're made of gossamer compared to Alteans.
[Help a princess out?]
D. It's like rain
[Altea didn't have rain. Not in the same way that humans knewthanks a lot Voltron canon and certainly Allura has never experienced anything like the rainy season in Aefenglom. What is a normal, even annoying phenomenon for one has Allura looking up, shielding her eyes the moment rain starts to pitter-patter on the roofs of the buildings around her
It's not the first rain she's seen, and she's delighted, but delight quickly turns into distress as the gentle sprinkle turns into a real downpour. And she quickly jogs for shelter- but not before getting absolutely drenched in the meantime.]
Apologies- [Allura sputters, standing in the doorway of the first building she came upon with water absolutely coming down in rivulets from her hair and dress, in a puddle on the floor underneath her. She holds her hands out, a little at a loss of what to do with herself] That's- Is this a normal amount of rain?
E. Wildcard
[Feel free to throw anything at me, or my plotting post is over here if you'd like to talk something specific! I'll probably be adding some closed starters below as the month goes on as I make plans with people too!]

It’s not easy for me to… take it easy. [Said with a small laugh. Her friends knew plenty about that, with the amount she was regularly reminded that she needed her rest after overexerting herself magically.
She brightens at the last bit,] You’re absolutely right. [Said with a fist in her palm, like it’s a brilliant idea,] Just because I have a new baseline doesn’t mean that I can’t work on improving it!
[What was that she said about taking it easy?]
no subject
You definitely can, but you also definitely need my advice to make sure you don't hurt yourself doing it! Human bodies need recovery after we do stuff like that, and we have to really build up over time to get the best results. But don't worry, making real sweaty workout menus is one of my top skills, so I could brew you up something tough but fair!
[He winks and knocks both his fists together like he's preparing for a bout, because clearly making workout routines is equivalent to that. But in all honesty, his little sports club back home is made up of him, a really big guy, and a really small guy, so he does have a lot of scope for knowing how people of very different builds and experience levels differ in their needs.]
no subject
She leans back where she’s sitting, tipping her chin up.]
Don’t take it easy on me just because I’m a princess. All Altean royalty are trained in combat from a young age, so I can handle whatever you throw at me.
[She sounds pretty confident. Even without her strength, she has full confidence in her willpower to power through most anything.]
no subject
[He snaps his fingers into an upbeat little pointing motion, as if to land that particular angle of argument. Breaking your limits to excess constantly is going to break someone's body before it builds it, so while he doesn't go easy on anyone, he's not going to immediately turn into a drill sergeant when he doesn't know her limits yet.]
no subject
[Her voice tilts up in obvious question. Her hands have come to rest on her knees and she leans forward to look Momo in the face.] I didn't know earth had royalty.
[Given, she doesn't know a lot about Earth at this point anyway. She leans back again, her voice taking a slightly haughty tone.]
Make whatever plans you wish, I'll be sure to impress you. Human or Altean.
no subject
The haughty tone gets a mischievous sort of grin in return from Momo, like he's taking that as an offer to try and trip her up. Most likely in a silly prank way, though, because that's how he rolls.] I'm looking forward to it. The best workouts are with people who are putting their all into it, regardless of the level they're at. It makes things way more fun.
no subject
Altea, at least, had a kind and trusted monarchy.
But that aside, she smiles at Momo, before setting her hands on her knees with a audible slap,] That settles it, then. [And she stands up,] This can be our first work out. Up the hill and with the trunk.
[Who's the one in charge here?]
no subject
I dunno if pairs workouts really count, that's more of a specific sports thing, isn't it? [Granted, relays probably count and they're more in the general athletics category, he just wouldn't call this anything like a relay either. Regardless, he crouches down by one end of the trunk, prepared to lift.]
Count down to when? [Probably a better idea than someone picking up one side first.]
no subject
[She offers simply. Sports are irrelevant here when she’s just interested in getting stronger.
Taking her spot next to the trunk, she bends at the knees, taking the handle in both hands.]
On the count of three. One…. Two… Three!
no subject
Alright, you're gonna have to lead the way since I have no idea where we're going. [Other than in the direction Allura pointed, but he doesn't want to leave them weaving all over the road or something if he picks the wrong side of the street to walk up.]
no subject
The trunk lifts up without a problem and Allura nods, picking up at a walk that's awkward at first, but evens out as he matches her pace.] It's just up the hill this way. I wasn't so far off, on my own.
[And they're heading to where some of the largest houses are in The Haven, heading towards one of the mansions.]
no subject
That said, he can't refrain from a bit of a teasing grin when he spots the house they're heading for.] Housing a family? You don't seem like the type to take the glamorous life all for yourself, even if you are a princess.
[Momo's lived in luxury for the last few years, but a cottage had been a much nicer prospect for him while living on his own here, so he can't imagine living in a mansion with anything less than several other people in it.]
no subject
She huffs at the teasing, and from the physical exertion,] There were four of us to find a home for. And if the rest of the paladins arrive, we’ll need room for them.
[Forward thinking!] You may have met my friends already – Keith, Lance, and Shiro.
no subject
[But then, it'd make sense as to how he met Allura if she's an alien. Either way, this sounds like the kind of thing that would come out of an anime or one of the more ridiculous dramas Momo has acted in. Slightly more so than most of the other stuff Momo's encountered here, since his world is about the most mundane he knows of in this one.]
no subject
Lance and the others pilot a ship called Voltron. Together they fight to stop Zarkon and defend the universe from those who would threaten it.
[Said with no small amount of pride. If only Lance was here to hear her talking him up.]
no subject
That's really cool...we haven't gotten super far with space travel on my version of Earth, we're still in the baby stages of space tourism. And by that I mean just people paying to even leave the atmosphere, not go to other planets.
[Needless to say, giant universe-defending spaceships aren't exactly on the table where he comes from.]
no subject
The humans weren't so different. They were only just exploring past their solar system when my Lions found them.
[Ah, she quickly corrects,] Those are the ships that they now pilot.
no subject
He can't help but go back to comment on the name of the ships, though, because lord is this sounding even more like something he'd read in a story back home.] Do they actually look like lions...? Because that already sounds incredibly amazing and way, way cooler than anything we've been able to send up so far.
[Curse the laws of aerodynamics and practical spaceship design.]
no subject
She nods,] They do resemble them. With paws and faces, so to speak.
[Like giant cats made out of blocks.] That is until they combine to form Voltron. Then it looks a little more like a man.
no subject
[He's putting these ships somewhere between spaceship and robot if they can transform into other considerably less ship-like shapes anyway. Officially filed in the "transforming mecha" category in his brain.]
no subject
Oh, we're almost home! [Just a few more steps away.] I appreciate all of your help, Momo.
no subject
[Since he's not going to ditch out if she'd have to drag it up to the second floor or a loft or something.]
no subject
I am on the second floor, so there's just a little further.
[The house itself is grand, but looks mostly like they'd just moved in, without much personality thrown into it yet. Grand ball rooms and a large kitchen and it felt. Empty.
A home away from home, really.]
no subject
Still doing the move-in, huh? When my partner and I moved into different places, it took a while for my new apartment to stop feeling empty.
[In part because Momo wasn't living with anyone else anymore at that point, but he feels like it can still apply to situations where there's a few people living together.]
