A. The Forge[Since arriving at Aefenglom and hearing about everything that happened at the hands of the Rathmore’s, Keith’s decided he’s going to need to prioritize getting his hands on a decent weapon. With his bayard out of commission for whatever reason, the Forge is probably the best place to find a replacement.
There’s a lot going on there though, with dragons and all sorts of projects being worked on and he can’t help looking around a little wide-eyed with amazement.]
Woah.
[He does his best not to stare too long at anything, but eventually his curiosity gets the better of him.]
Where’d you get the material to make that?
B. A Mew Friend
1. Encounter:
[..... But sometimes you start heading home and you’re interrupted by an insistent noise coming from the garbage can at the end of an alleyway. Keith pauses briefly, peering around for the source of the noise. Aefenglom is, of course, home to quite a lot of magical creatures and he isn’t sure what to expect from whatever is evidently stuck inside the garbage. Keith gives whoever is near by a glance.]
Gonna take a look.
[But seeing as you just never know, Keith pulls out a knife and makes his way over to the distressed noise. Much to his relief, when he looks inside the garbage….]
Oh.
[He reaches in to pick up the stray kitten and holds it out]
Is this yours?
2. Open to people at or visiting the Voltron haus
[After sneaking the kitten inside the house, Keith has been spending an awful lot of time holed up in the attic, apparently by himself. How suspicious…. Or not suspicious at all But should anyone come to poke around the attic or check on him, they’ll find the attic door is locked and jiggling the door handle only gets a slightly panicked:]
H-hey! What do you want?
C. Clothes Shopping[Between the decision to get himself a sword and also acquire food for The Cat, getting himself new clothes had not been very high on Keith’s bucket list of priorities. His paladin armor was serving him just fine -- it’s durable, warm and it covers up everything that needs covering up.
But there comes a point where the Altean magical whatever that had kept the armor in pristine condition becoming nonresponsive in Aefenglom poses a bit of a problem. And that problem is boy stank. He may wash every day, but clothes -- especially heavy armor -- need to be given time to air out, you know?]
So while you’re out looking through clothes…. Well, Keith will be eyeing this jacket and sighing deeply.]
I just want my old jacket back.
D. Full Moon[For all the warnings that he’s received about full moons and monster transformations, Keith should have been on edge all day, but instead he’s slept through almost all of it. As weird as that is for him, Keith genuinely thinks this could have been worse. It isn’t a thought that lasts long however, as night begins to fall. The restlessness is what kicks in first, slowly but steadily until he’s practically wearing the floorboards of his room down with his ceaseless pacing. He’s unbonded and he’s been told repeatedly that he might be a danger to people if he goes outside, but he’s not entirely certain in what way just yet.
That is until the hunger sets in. A hunger that refuses to abate even after angrily eating the bread that’s been left out on the counter. Hunger that only seems to intensify when he spots his roommates walking around the house. The word “vampire” sounds ridiculous in his own head, but he knows it isn’t -- not at Aefenglom anyway, and for the life of him he can’t bring himself to endanger his friends just by existing near them. He doesn’t know exactly where he’s going, but he needs to go outside -- somewhere safe, somewhere he can wait out the worst of his hunger.
But of course, not everything always goes according to plan. Somewhere along his attempt to run from the residential district to the outer walls separating Aefenglglom from the Wilde, he runs into someone. Unthinking, he snarls.]
Watch where you’re going!
E. Wildcard[As always, I’m down for any other ideas that you may have for threads. Feel free to PM or hit me up on plurkpartyraven if you’d like to hash something specifc out!]

[He picks the hammer back up and sets it aside, and then grabs his tongs to dip the hot metal into the barrel of water next to the anvil. It hisses and steams, and he wipes his hands off on the front of his leather apron. He's still a bit at a loss, but- Well. Keith's friend had forgotten everything about his first time here, too. It just hadn't been so awkward because he barely knew that guy.
Keith had been his roommate. Keith had helped him put up these very walls.] Can I help you? [Right. Going to have to treat this like a first meeting.] You- you're the one who came all the way out here.

He doesn't know what to make of this, but when the man continues with that shouldn't be so surprising, his brow knits further. The questions multiply in his head, catalyzed by the cryptic nature of the conversation. There's obviously a lot he doesn't know here, and he's never been fond of getting a face full of information asymmetry.]
Because I heard I could commission a sword out here. [A beat. Then direct and to the point:] But now I've got a whole bunch of other questions. What am I supposed to remember about you? And why?

Toothless mrrs an inquisitive sound at Hiccup, and he just shakes his head, mumbling to the dragon in tired exasperation,] The gods hate me, bud. [They almost seem to have a conversation with their eyes alone before he manages to turn back to Keith, exhaling.]
Sure. Sword. Let's do that instead of have this horrible awkward conversation. [He starts dryly, but he knows he's not going to be able to push his luck that far.] Gods. Has- has nobody else told you you were here before? For- a while, actually. I knew-... that Keith, I guess. [But he's not really wanting to get into the specifics, honestly.] Then he left. Disappeared. Whatever happens when- when someone isn't here anymore.
[The 'and now here you are again' is implied.]
1/2
He can tell he's not going to like this answer before Hiccup's even given him one and, to nobody's surprise, he indeed does not like the answer when it finally comes out. The annoyance that had slowly been building up hits a brick wall of confusion, and Keith's expression falters visibly.]
No....? [There's something almost vulnerable in his tone, something Keith hates hearing in his own voice. He clears his throat immediately, as if forcing himself to sound more assertive might mask the fact that he feels like he's been dropkicked.]

[Which ought to be suspicious enough to be liberating. There are over a milion pairs of eyes in Aefenblom and not a single one of them seemed to have recognized him before Hiccup. It should be clearance to dismiss the idea entirely, but it's just so plain to see in the guy's body language and tone that he's telling the truth. Keith takes a deep steadying breath, trying to organize the implications of that.]
Someone told me that while we're here, we don't lose time back home. [Another breath.] Nobody's ever said anything about losing all memory of this place when you leave it.
[And that's about as far as he can manage in calmer tones because damn it there was something that happened to Shiro in the future and he was going to keep it from ever happening when he returned home--]
Look. Are you positive it was me? How do you even know we're the same person and not -- [Fuck, He grabs at the first out he can think of.] I don't know. Some alternate reality version of me?

He wasn't very social. We lived out here, in the- the house at the back of the property. [He decides not to mention that Shiro was around when the other Keith vanished; no sense in causing problems for either of them with unnecessary information. What's done is done. Hopefully that's enough of an explanation why no one mentioned it to him before.]
That's possible. My Bonded - he saw parts of his life in his mirror. Things that happened after the last thing he remembered when he first showed up here. The him in the mirror, going through everything, I don't think he remembered Aefenglom. I don't know for sure. I don't think anyone does.
[He just stares for a minute, expression gone flat and voice dry.] His name was Keith, he looked a lot like you, he piloted a space robot. That's about all I know for sure. It's- it's- it's not like I have any more experience with this than you do! I d- I definitely don't expect you to be the same person my friend was, but- you know, you absolutely caught me off guard here.

There was definitely a Keith, alright. A Keith who was also, apparently, a paladin. A Keith who may or may not be someone who's easier to think of as an entity separate from himself because the thought of pure inconsequentiality is crushing the air out of his lungs where he stands, but a Keith nonetheless. A Keith who was obviously important to this stranger who he is now antagonizing further by being too caught up in his own perspective on the matter. Sucking in a deep breath, he lets it out slowly. It does nothing to slow the adrenaline charged rhythm of his heart, but his tone softens significantly.]
Look. [He says, paradoxically looking away.] I'm sorry, ok? I came in here to ask about getting a sword made and if there were any apprenticeships available because my bayard isn't working and I don't know what other kind of work I'd rather do.
[Seriously. Is he supposed to go dress up real nice and work at a teashop like Allura? With his social skills? Ugh.]
Not whatever... this conversation ended up being.
march ate me i'm so sorry
No, it's- You couldn't have known. It's fine. I'm sorry I kind of... sprung all this on you, but I didn't know either, you know? [How could either of them have known? Sometimes this world throws things at you that you don't expect and you just have to learn to roll with.] If I had I would have tried to be- [Gentler? Would have tried to just pretend nothing ever happened, treat him like a stranger?]
It's- Yeah. I can make you a sword. That's no problem. But- I, uh, I've never taken an apprentice before? I don't know if I'd be any good at teaching.
