[while staying at the hospital was nice and all, ventus was far happier being told he could return home again. he missed being around aqua and kairi where everything was familiar and comfortable, not doubting that anything would be different when he returned. he didn't want anything to be different, but...

moving around without his crutch was finally possible now, but that didn't stop the dull aching in the muscles around the old wound when he pushed himself too much without rest. when his body refused to cooperate then sleeping felt like the next best option.

he had left for his room earlier in the day, hopeful for a somewhat peaceful nap that would leave him with more energy later in the day. while sleep came easily to him, his dreams were hardly as kind.

an hour into falling asleep, ven wakes up drenched in sweat and with a scream ripping from his throat.]

Stop it-! [the blankets tangle around his limbs as he struggles trying to free himself, crying out when he falls off the side of the bed.]

[ Aqua's kept a close eye on Ven since he had returned, but at the same time - she's tried to give him space and some distance. She knows what had happened when he had been saved, though she barely remembers that time. It was a blur - the only memory left is the emotions of anger and desperation.

Still, she pushes her own feelings of guilt and fear aside (that it may happen again) and focuses on Ven, and helping him recover. Right now, he needs attention and reassurance that he isn't alone - that he isn't going to go through this again.

It's when she hears him yelling that she quickly makes her way to where the noise was coming from, panic and fear settling in again that something bad was happening to him once again. ]

Ven!

[ven lays on the floor still twisted in his sheets, shoulders shaking as he muffles a sob against one of the pillows clutched in his hands. at first he doesn't fully register her voice, too tense and wound up to think about anything else.]

Please... please, stop it...

[his claws dig into the pillow, tail tucked tightly between his legs.]

[ Aqua reaches for his shoulders, gently shaking him in a hopeful attempt to wake him up. ]

Ven, please wake up!

[ It's a nightmare, a bad one. Her chest constricts in a painful manner. She'd do anything to go back and make sure that no harm had come to him. ]

[he whimpers again before awaking with a jolt, tears in his eyes. he stares up at aqua's face panting heavily, panic still evident across his face.]

A... Aqua?

[his voice breaks at the end of her name before his expression crumbles, lower lip quivering.] Aqua...

[ Aqua reaches, gently helping him up. She had every intention of pulling him into a hug after doing so. ]

You were having a nightmare. [ She starts softly. ] It's over now.

[ven pushes his face against her neck as a small sob breaks free. the scar on his leg aches, white fire spreading down his thigh as his frame shudders.

the air feels thinner now as he tries sucking down breaths, sobbing helplessly.]

[ Aqua rubs his back, holding him close - and gently, her wings shift, covering him the best that they can, as if in an attempt to protect him from what was hurting him the most right now. ]

Ven! Ven - I'm here.

[slowly, he starts to feel himself calm down. if he can even call it that, throat still tight with slow sobs that devolve into hiccups. later he'll feel terrible for making such a mess on her shirt, but for now all he can think is how happy he is to have her here.]

A-Aqua... [his voice comes out shaky, still keeping his face tucked against her neck.] I wanna go home... I wanna go home.

[ It's times like these when Aqua wishes that Terra was here. Aqua knows that Terra would know what to say to make Ven feel better far more quickly than she could. Still, she pushes her emotions aside, focusing on comforting Ven. ]

We'll find a way home. [ Aqua continues to run his back, holding him close. ] Together.

[even without terra there for them both, ven manages to calm down from the worst of his hyperventilating. if he focused on the way aqua rubbed his back, her voice so close to him - grounding him from the earlier nightmare, he could feel his own heart beat slow just a little.

his face was still a mess and even with the worst of the storm passed he felt just as cruddy as before.]

[ Even when Ven starts to calm down a little, Aqua doesn't pull away or stop. She wants to help Ven feel safe again - as safe as he can feel under the current circumstances. And... she wants him to know that he isn't alone. ]

I'll stay here with you tonight.

[ven nods his head, voice too shaky still to trust himself with speaking. if she hadn't offered to stay he'd have tried to ask her himself- being alone like this only made the nightmares worse he felt.

clumsily, he rubs at one of his eyes with a palm.] Thanks... thanks, Aqua...

[ Aqua pushes herself from Ven then, shifting to stand and offering a hand for him to take. ]

Here. You'll start to feel better if you can lay somewhere comfortable.

[ven clutches at her arm as she helps him stand up, eyes puffy and cheeks flushed from crying. sitting back on the bed does feel better than being curled up on the floor...]

Sorry... I'm sorry, Aqua.

[ She shakes her head, immediately moving to wrap her arms around him, pulling him close. ]

Please, don't apologize Ven. I'm glad that I can be here for you, but... I'm sorry that I can't do more than this right now.
