[L regards Alex with equal wariness; either her demeanor is making him uneasy, or it's simply secondhand uneasiness from the way things always are with Mello. He never wanted the two of them in the same room, not so soon, perhaps not ever, and his agitation is absolutely palpable. L seems to be disengaged from the rest of the room to a certain degree, content for the moment to stay curled on that loveseat and turning his scrawny body into a fortress. Though his presence is off-putting at the best of times, at least it can be said that he does not come across as immediately powerful or threatening. He doesn't fail to catch Mello's look; maybe it would be better if he went somewhere else for a bit and allowed them some time to be alone together.
Never mind that his disastrous solitary exploits are what brought him here in the first place. He glances around for his jacket; what happened to the clothes he brought with them and wedged behind the bathroom door? All thrown out for their filth and otherwise sorry state?]
