"I know this isn't an ordinary watch," he says in weak protest. "But it should run the same way, right?" He sounds so unsure about all of this. 'Turn it on' isn't an expression he hears that often, either, so he follows along with what she's doing and copies. Sure enough, the screen eventually illuminates.

Swiping is a little more difficult for him. He takes too long on his first go around and the screen goes dark again. The second time, he moves his finger too quickly and it doesn't quite register. It's not until the third try that he gets to the entry screen, but by then he's a little more frustrated. Fortunately, he's also a little curious.

"Did you learn all of this just now, or have you seen one of these before?"
