baby's first changes (open)

What: Some quests, and Aqua's first dragon changes

a) an icy chill

[ The changes had come rather suddenly - painfully so. ice-like wings had sprouted from her back, and before she knew it, her eyes had changed to a deep blue color. At first, she doesn't set foot outside, taking what time she needed to get accustomed to moving around with them. She doesn't take long, mind you.

But, when she does go back outside, it's to practice using those very wings. She can be seen outside attempting to give those wings a rather strong flap, attempting to launch herself off of the ground. If she's lost what abilities she's had before, she wants to start over on her training here.

... However, it's taking some time. For now, she can barely fly a few inches off of the ground. ]

b) city quest 2

[ Aqua knows that both herself and her housemates need to make money in order to continue to survive, and that's exactly why she's decided to take on one of the jobs that have been offered. In the end, it does
seem like it's a job that'll be done for the better - especially for those who think that it's wise to simply dump their trash where it's convenient.

Still, that's not the difficult part of all of this. What's difficult is attempting persuade others to clean up their mess.

So, she starts by cleaning up where its most needed, going through what was supposedly trash in order to clean up the less fortunate parts of the city. She can be seen going through what looked like antiques - old, broken vases and paintings. They definitely look valuable, but it looks as if Aqua will be handling what she's finding herself. ]

c) wilde quest 1

[ Fortunately for Aqua, fighting is still her forte despite losing her abilities. She's signed up to fight with the more physical aspects of what's being asked for her. She takes caution despite her skill, donning the gloves and mask that they asked for her to wear.

She stays alert, sitting on a rather large tree branch as she watches from below. As she sees an enemy approach, her reptilian eyes narrow, immediately launching herself off of the branch, and towards one of those who have been affected by the plague. ]

d) closed to ven and kairi

[ Later in the month, she'll approach Ven or Kairi the moment that she sees them home. She has something important to discuss with them. Something that they can't just ignore. If they do, it could endanger all of them.

She steps close to them, frowning yet keeping her tone gentle when she speaks. ]

[Kairi's been paying close attention to Aqua over the past couple weeks, watching as the changes begin to settle on her and she starts to adapt to them. Wings... Those aren't so bad, really. Certainly nothing in comparision to what that mist from last month did.

But she's still worried, and she's been watching for the slightest hint that something might be off, that Aqua might need help. Still, Aqua ends up approaching her first, as she's sitting in one of their chairs in the living room, making her way through a stack of books on intermediate Divination.

She sets it aside immediately and gives Aqua her full attention.]

Yeah. I can study anytime. What is it?

[ Aqua looks to the books, wondering just how well Kairi's studies are going. It's a question that she'll have to save for now. She doesn't want them to go off topic with something as important as what she wants to talk about.

She makes herself comfortable in the chair next to Kairi, sending her a meaningful look. ]

... Kairi. I was wondering if you've found someone to bond with.

[Oh. Just... jumping straight into the big issues, huh? Well, it's a topic they should probably cover, so she can't be too surprised. She takes a breath.]

No. Everyone I've spoken to, everyone I've made friends with, is already bonded. Not necessarily to three people, but... I don't want to slide my way in as someone's third unless I have to, or they really want me to bond with them. Since everyone says more than three bonds isn't something you want to try.

[The fact that no one's told her exactly why that is only worries her more.]

I have talked about it, though. I know why it's important, and that I don't have as much time left as I'd like... But I don't really... have a plan, I'm afraid.

[Rich is quick to notice the existence of not just someone he's met before, but apparently, another dragon pretty easily. He's been here long enough to pick up on the traits... particularly those of the wings many of them end up sporting. Rich's curiosity is already piqued, and then he notices, as he moves closer, that the wings almost seem to be shimmering like water or ice.

The irony, with his deep red wings, embers still smouldering along them, is certainly not lost on him. As he approaches, she starts to hover, so he attempts the same, stretching out his wings to catch the air.]

Hey there. Getting some practice in?

[ Aqua can't help but feel relieved that she's here. She doesn't want Kairi or Ven to be without something so important. .... If Kairi wants to take Aqua's offer, that is. ]

Kairi, I'm sure that your friends wouldn't want you to go without a bond, but... if you'd like to, I don't have a bond yet myself.

[ It's the sound of that familiar voice that draws her attention, turning towards Rich. She frowns a little, looking to her wings. She still isn't sure how she feels about all of this. Especially after what happened the last time she had changed.

But... she had been reassured that that wasn't something that had happened before. She wanted to trust in that.

Her wings droop before she nods her head. ]

... Yes. I don't have my powers here, but if I can - I'd like to learn how to be prepared for anything that happens in the future.

[She blinks, surprised... and then realizes that she probably shouldn't be surprised. Aqua's suggestion makes perfect sense, after all. Now that she thinks about it, she should have brought it up herself. The only reason she hadn't was, well...]

I thought you would've bonded to Ven by now. I mean, I guess that wouldn't matter, you'd still have two bonds left. But you don't have a bond at all?

Probably a good idea. And uh, to be fair, wings are probably the best changes for a dragon.

[Since it's clear that he's been dealing with all the various transformations for a while, only a few characteristics missing.]

I'm still learning myself, but I don't think a lot of humans know how to fly just like that.

[ven's own changes haven't been much easier on him: a pair of furry dog ears that have had him scratching at his head where they came through for a week now, sharp canines that pushed out all his flat teeth and have him itching to chew on every hard surface he can find, and a curled tail that has forced him to wear his pants lower just to accommodate it. the amount of blonde fur he's found everywhere around the house was embarrassing enough, but...

someone had brought home a steak that ven eviscerated to get to the bone in the middle, his poor teeth desperate to carve into. when aqua calls them out for a talk he's settled on the couch with the steak bone in his mouth, teeth marks already marring the bone when he stops.]

A bond? Um... [his mind immediately goes to vanitas- and stops himself before he says that aloud.] I haven't found anyone either.

[Kairi's pretty sure Ven's focus is on Aqua right now, especially as he responds to her question about a bond. Apparently she was wrong in her assumption that they'd already bonded.

Huh.]

We're all kinda running into the same problem, aren't we?

I want to speak to Ven about this, too.

[ She won't let any of her friends be in danger of being without a bond. ]

... I don't. I know that I shouldn't have put it off for so long. But Kairi, I'm happy to offer to help to you, even if it's just temporary - until you see Sora again.

I suppose so, but... I've also heard that dragons have elemental powers as well.

[ It definitely won't be the same as the magic she had back at home, but at least -- she won't be left powerless. ]

[ It's just like she thought... She knows that they can't just leave things like this. ]

We need to stick together as much as we can. ... And part of that includes bonding with one another, even if it isn't permanent.

[ She isn't about to let anything happen to them - not if she can help it. ]

[She considers that for a moment, but it doesn't really take that long for her to nod.]

I've been thinking the same thing, honestly. Honestly, since the two of you are both monsters, I've been wondering if I should bond with you both. I don't remember exactly what happens with bonds between monsters. I do know that a witch-witch bond can only make the magic buildup worse, though.

I haven't heard anything bad about monsters bonding about one another, persay... But, it does sound like this will work out for the best for you for now.

Well, I guess that's really all we need to say about it, isn't it?

[It seems almost too easy, after all the pressure piled onto them about finding a good bond.

But that's what happens when you get brought in here with friends from home, isn't it?]

So... It sounds like a bit of a rush, but I guess there's no reason to wait, is there?

[something he tried to talk to vanitas about, but that ended... poorly. his ears fall back for a moment before perking up again.]

I'd be okay with that. I-I mean bonding with you both.

No, there isn't. Waiting at this point in time isn't a good idea.

[ She offers a small, tentative smile. ]

... If Sora or Riku does arrive, we can break the bond if you want. This really is to keep you safe.

That would work... we'd all be at two bonds out of three, then, and I think we can stay that way safely.

[And she'll still have a slot open for Sora... or Riku. If they both come in, well, then things get a little complicated.]

Even if they both arrive, we can keep the bond. The maximum is three, and I can't think of anyone else I'd rather be bonded to.

... Unless Namine shows up too, anyway.

[ Aqua nods her head. ]

Yes. ... But, Kairi - if Sora and Riku arrive, the bond can just be temporary.

... Of course. The four of you should look out for one another.

Or if you get another person you want to bond with. I'm not gonna keep you shackled to me if Terra gets brought in, I promise.

[ She shakes her head, offering a small, reassuring smile. ]

Please, I'm happy to help. If anything, our bond is a way where I can protect you.

It's... supposed to be a little more of an equal sharing, I think.

[Not that she can do much to protect Aqua in turn, and she knows it...]

... You're right. We'll protect each other.

I'll do what I can for you, at least.

[No matter how little that really is.]

[ She nods her head. ]

I think we'll make a good team.

I'm glad you think so.

[She just hopes she can live up to the expectations... that she's really just setting for herself.]
