[ In a past time, he would have hated the idea of getting more friends than the one (1) he already had.

But in a world like this, where being alone might put his de-powered self into danger, and after realizing that having friends is actually Nice, he actually looks eager to the idea. Not that he'd be unable to have a social circle here, but... help is appreciated. This guy is nice. ]

Their original form is not human, but they have equal transformation powers. [ He's not at all used to explain things. Usually it's the other party doing the explanations to him. But he's trying??? ]

How they manifest their other powers varies between them, but if you saw their human forms they would all look indistinguishable from each other. And... the ones I know can function just as well under the sunlight.

I'm Kivat Bat The 3rd, just Kivat for friends, and I'm a... Kivat! That's also the name of my race!

[ He chants all that in a pretty boastful voice. ]

My buddy Wataru forgot his watch here and I got the idea of fooling around with it!

[ He's not as worried about himself as much as he is towards he people he would accidentally use his spells on. But at least he knows better than do that at all anymore.

Feeling a bit awkward, Wataru shows a stiff smile. ]

Sorry, mister. I tend to worry too much sometimes...

[ He nods. ]

That, I am. And I have yet to figure out what I'm supposed to do with that information, but I'll go to the Coven tomorrow and see. [ First, he'd rather get himself a roof under his head. ]

Either way... sure, we can go looking now.

Nothing we can really trust, is there?

[ He's more on the cautious side - getting cursed really seems as easy as drinking water in a place like this, especially with those goblins around... ]

I will trust my guts and keep the coin, either way.

[ Sorry, buddy, you've just met a real music nut. It's the only thing that got him through his depressing times as an abandoned child.

That aside, he reacts positively to the suggestion - nodding along instead of letting more doubts get to him. Because... music!!! ]

You're right. If I can reinvent the basic methods to cast spells, maybe I'll be able to make a performance that's as good as the ones we're watching...!

[ Don't worry, he'll calm down soon. ]

Yeah.

[ His answer is rapid. ]

I learned that not everything tends to go my way. Realities that I hated, about the world, the people around me, myself especially. They hurt me, but they were still real. Nothing I would have ever done was going to cancel them from my life, and I realized that in order to find peace, I had to accept them, even if I still hated them.

[ He gives her a gentle look. In the past he would have shrunk under her scrutiny, but that's no longer the case now. ]

If I hadn't, perhaps I wouldn't have survived.

[ He smiles at that. They... somehow understand each other in that regard. It's rare for him to find people who had similar experiences like his own. ]

That's right. If I ever go back home, I would pick my slack and resume my duty, as if I never left.

[ An amused snort. ] This world hardly seems like a vacation spot, however.

[ A quite cute and colorful display, if he has to say so, even though he won't be vocal on it. Wataru smiles from the positive vibes it sends him. ]

I'm still struggling a little with the basics, but I know it's because I'm holding back a lot.

[ Even now, while he might try to cast something on his hand, he's hesitating. His smile wanes gradually. ]

Because I accidentally hurt someone twice, I've got some kind of... mental block, I guess. If I get over that, I might improve significantly?

[Oh. Yuya's hands lower a little at the admission.]

... I can understand that. [At least this is something that can be tempered and controlled, unlike before. But he knows the guilt of causing others pain well.]

Why don't we practice together? Has anything stuck out to you as something you want to do?

... What kind of mature answer is that? You're going to make me look bad.

[ She lets out a sigh, maybe a tad on the dramatic side. Just a little bit though. ]

You make that sound so easy. I still haven't even accepted yet that I'm stuck here for real.

So Kivat Bat the 3rd. . . -san?

[ Atsushi sounds extremely confused and it shows in his voice. He's calling him by the full name because he doesn't consider himself as a friend, given they just met. ]

But what's a Kivat? [ He understands that it's some sort of race but everything else is just him being confused. ] Ah, but if Wataru-san forgot his watch, I don't think you should be messing around with it too much. . . what if he gets mad?

And here I am, not even knowing your name...

[What a strange young man he is.]

[ That one... part of his past would be embarrassing to tell about now, because of how his search for weird ingredients was tied with his former obsession. He felt stupid for a long time after he grew more confident and finally left all of that unealthy stuff behind. ]

No, not really. [ He stutters a bit, awkward. ] I craft violins. It was more about finding every ingredient possible to create the perfect paint for my pieces.

Well. Your attitude about all this sure has changed.

[ Vanitas really hadn't meant to encourage anything like that! Insult a little bit, most definitely. Put the other person down for not using his head, sure.

But this? Yeah, definitely not his goal. ]

[ He's got some approximate knowledge of Halloween - it's not something often celebrated in his home country, but it was still a thing that existed. Years spent in total isolation didn't help matter either. Last time he checked, however, the ones that were supposed to be carved were pumpkins... not turnips, at all. Was this even about Halloween, actually?

Still, Wataru also missed crafting violins, and he took on the quest with not much of an issue. His hands are now proceeding to cut into the vegetable with expertise, practiced over the years. Even as the turnip's skin is quite tough, he found little problem getting to work, but at some point he realized other people might not be as lucky or experienced as he was.

That's when he turns to the young woman sitting near him, regarding her with a respectful tone. ]

Are you having issues with the carving? I can help otherwise.

Just Kivat is fine, really, unless you don't wanna be friends or something?

[ He's a lot more on the social side than Wataru is, even despite the guy's improvements overtime. ]

We Kivats are a special race of bats who are designed to help people fight! We give them awesome armors and stuff! [ Way to give Wataru's identity away like that??? ] And nah, he's not the kind of guy who'd get mad at something like that.

[ He stifles an apology before it comes out, because there's really nothing he should apologize for, right? That speech felt valid to him. ]

I'm having a hard time accepting that, actually, since I've been here for a few days only. But it will happen in due time. Honestly, it's harder than it sounds but not impossible.

[ Hearing that someone wants to practice with him despite his admission is quite a comfort for him. Many times he was told he was a danger to others, and way too many responsibilities had been thrust upon him back when he still had no idea what he was doing. Things have changed, but his unwillingness to hurt others hasn't. ]

Thank you for offering. I'll take up on that.

[ As for what he wants to do... ] I would like to tap into some of the elemental magic, and flight. I also want to know if there is a way to channel my magic through music instead.

Ah...

[ Yeah, that's a thing he didn't consider, and it makes him blush a little. Something so obvious, and yet he overlooked it...! ]

I know. Oh, and... thank you for telling me those things. I think I needed to hear them.

[ Yeah, he's actually thanking this guy who's kind of a jerk? Honestly, if there was anyone who knew Wataru at all they wouldn't be that surprised. ]

Have you got precise goals or your own?

Magic music? I know people were using it in--just the last couple weeks. [Fighting for revolution.] There's definitely a way to combine them. I don't really play any music, but I'm taking some of the evocation classes too.

[Flight sounds fun to, frankly... he didn't think when he arrived he'd be so interested in studying but there's so much cool magic, he wants to do it.] What do you play?

Before I showed up here, I thought at least half of the stuff that's normal here was the impossible thing! [ Like her having grown wings on her back like this. Back home all she had to deal with was puberty, not changing into a literal monster. ]

Maybe it's going to be easier for you to get used to it in the long run, but I doubt I'm ever going to get there.
