“It’s possible, but for the dream of Dewaint Forest and the fire at least, I believe it’s unlikely,” Yako says this with certainty, ticking off the points on her hands.

“In the dream with the Fae, they spoke of the Queen and the courts — both of which are, to the best of the knowledge of the Fae in the city, either no longer in existence or haven’t been seen in a long time. For the dream of the fire — Professor Bell told me that before the Cwyld infected so much of the Wilde, historical accounts say that Fauns tended forests and springs alongside Nymphs... but they’ve been mostly extinct for some time. Given the number of them still alive in the dream, it would have had to be a time before they were wiped out.”

She pauses, then sheepishly waves her hands in front of her face. “That’s not to say everything in a dream follows logic or time, of course. We could very well have been experiencing events totally out of order, or someone’s made-up version of it. But in the dream about the nymphs, not all of the witches were from Aefenglom. Some were from another place called Faegar — if an operation like that really took place, there might be a record of it somewhere.”
