It hadn't been the first time that Newt had done a task set by the Wilders. He often left the city walls on his own accord because the mystery of what existed passed the walls enticed Newt much more than what happened within the walls. Learning what was out there, he thought, was important. More importantly, learning how the infection affected everything.

Their travels are filled with Newt's insistent questions. All the details of the moles before infections to what changes may occur with infection to how the creatures travel or attack. Knowing what they're up against was important, especially when they could do nothing but to kill them. A mix between mercy for the things that had been infected and to avoid it from spreading.

Both Newt and Theseus are equipped with their magic, but also keep the warhammer. Theseus was fairly new and Newt felt like there was still much practice still necessary in many of the magic branches that a back up seemed smarter, though he obviously has no love for using it.

They're left to their devices once they reach the lands.

Newt turns to Theseus as he draws his wand. "Figure it out ourselves they said. Well, you'd think they'd have more to say," Newt replies with a shrug. He can't say he's surprised, but he does wonder if it's a little irresponsible. "We've certainly got our work cut out for us."
