It's more serious than Iskandar is willing to admit. But he was always reckless like that. That's why he learned the healing magic in the first place. The one he cannot use now. And he knows Waver will worry no matter what he says.

"Magic is all twisted down here. I couldn't heal anyone. I couldn't even heal myself. So I had to go about it the traditional way."

It's not even that it stopped working. It's worse. Some of his wounds are from his own healing magic backfiring. Small scratches aggravated into serious problems by his failed attempts to get rid of them until he realized what is happening.

"But it's nothing a few hours of rest won't help with."

The burns on his hands are another matter altogether.
