[He wouldn't personally leap into the flames himself, but the tradition is also loss to him.]
Is magic not that common where you're from?
no subject
[There was just Hanajima and her waves, and the zodiac curse. That was all the magic of sorts that Kyo knew about. At least outside of stories or movies or video games or whatever.]

[Also, fighting in more dire situations makes running through a bonfire to be the least dangerous thing he's seen.] I can assure you that no one is really in real danger then. At least, they're obviously equipping people with the means to avoid any more serious injury.

[Because clearly that is the important part of what Newt was saying, right? At least. Kyo assumes he means dragons like in the stories. And not....well. Like Hatori's zodiac form. Perhaps in the past the Dragon was more impressive, but as the curse has gotten weaker over time, well.]

[Newt can understand someone not being used to the existence of dragons as a reality, but he is a bit puzzled by what other dragons he could possibly be referring to. Dragons have a pretty universal image, he thought.]
no subject
[It isn't like there is anyone else from home to ask, regarding the Dragon of the zodiac. But still, Kyo can't help being curious all the same, at the idea of such things being real. Then again, stories had to come from somewhere, didn't they?]
no subject
[Statute of secrecy and all.]
no subject
But you're saying they are and it is just that if you aren't magic or something, you don't know about them or think they're just stories?
[That....makes sense in some way and also makes things way more complicated all at once? Somehow.]
no subject
[He can't say he is completely knowledgeable about some myths and legends in foreign lands.]
Yes. Well, we hide magic from non magic society in any capacity. Statute of secrecy to avoid widespread panic and persecution. [He's only talking about it because they're in a world full of magic. It seems kind of silly to hide these things.] People panic when they're presented something unknown or different to them and this held true for magic.

[People not understanding, being terrified....that was why Hatori had had to erase some people's memories of seeing the zodiacs transform and all. So Kyo might understand that more than Newt might realize.]
no subject
[See him try to figure out technology. It'll be great. At least for maybe someone watching.]
Yes. To hide it. It's better that way, I suppose. [Would he love to live in a world where it's accepted? Definitely. He has seen the cruelty of exposure though, so he's happy to avoid that. Although, he certainly doesn't know that Kyo is particularly familiar with it. Down to erasing memories.]
no subject
[Had let Tohru remain with them. Hadn't told Hatori to erase her memories like every other time someone had found out about the Curse.]
Living in fear of being found out like that....it isn't always better.
[She knows. She knows and she still went after him anyway. That meant everything to Kyo.]
no subject
I wouldn't say I fear it. I can't say I'm bothered by my lot in life. Just that it is what it is. You can't always decide how things go, but you certainly can still enjoy life for what it is.
[And Newt very much enjoyed things for the most part. It helps that his passions took him away from society versus being ingrained in it though.]
no subject
[Like Tohru. The way she always seemed to look on the bright side, being so positive almost all the time. He still has no idea how she does it. Let alone how Newt might in seeming....more or less okay with the whole secrecy thing and all. His magic. Dealing with this place so relatively calmly.]
no subject
[Newt is just a very adaptable man. That, and you don't need to hide magic when you're out in the wild. Who's gonna tell on you? The animals?]
no subject
[Because he knows what awaits him if he doesn't succeed in his end of the deal with Akito, his family's head. The God of the zodiac. That and his past hasn't been the most rosy, so to speak either. Even if Tohru was ever the optimist.]
