[ Allies? Just like that? Her eyes fall to his hand again. He seemed nice enough, and something about his voice was oddly calming and familiar, and she finds herself reaching out slowly. But once her fingers touch his, she retracts, clenching her bruised fingers into a fist. Receiving help was a raw wound at the moment, although she knew she needed it. ]

I'm sorry..it's not that I think you're a bad person. I just think...you could spend your time on something better.

[Archer waits patiently for her decision, not showing much when she retreats. Perhaps a different approach will succeed. He doesn't want to leave her alone out there.]

I'd like to spend some time on food and something to drink, but the stalls around allow it only if you do share it with someone. [that's not exactly a lie, because Archer is interested in the food. It's just not immediate need.]

[ It takes a second, but she does pick up on what he was trying to do. Really, even with her trying to pay him back he was going to help her out with that? ]

I can do that.

[ She smiles up at him gratefully. Kindness for nothing in return was still odd to her. Pleasant, but odd. ]

Was there something you wanted in particular?

[It's a brief glimpse of a person that Archer was before. His eyes soften the tiniest bit when she smiles.]

Too many to choose from. [there is, from savory or sweet pies through pancake wraps with a variety of fillings to sponge cake.] Those rolls look tasty, but there's so many flavors that I can't decide.

[He's curious how food here differs.]

[ Alex watches him curiously as he looks over all the options. ]

I wouldn't have pegged you as someone with a sweet tooth.

[When the stall owner notices them he immediately approaches. Seeing that pancake rolls caught Archer's attention he starts advertising his goods.]

I have savory ones too, with vegetables and with meat, both spicy and mild flavors! The sweet rolls even have orapples' filling!

[Looks like the fruits are different here. Archer glances at the woman next to him.]

I'm partial to meat, but why not have some variety. What would you like?

[ She's trying to make it up to you, remember? ]

The combined ones sound pretty good. I think something heavier would be good.

[ You're not turning this around on her. ]

Do you like spicy food?

[That doesn't mean she's forced to eat food not agreeing with her tastes. In Archer's eyes she seems too timid to voice her opinion, and it brings forth his helping instincts.]

I do, how about you? [his next question is directed at the stall owned.] Can we have two different kinds of rolls in one portion?

Of course!

[ She may be timid, but she is also quite hard headed. ]

I can handle it.

[ Not that she'll stop him from getting both options. She does watch the man make it though, and the amount of spicy ingredients he adds on. How much she can handle..she may not actually be that sure. ]

[Archer chooses mix of spicy and mild wraps, with extra drink resembling fruity milkshake. It makes a meal suited for two, since the drink has two straws.]

Let's move there. [Archer tilts his head where a bit further ahead stools and tables are arranged.]

[ This may have been to repay him, but Alex couldn't help but eye the food and drink. She didn't realize how hungry she was with everything going on, but man did they look good.

Alex follows him to stools and takes a seat, but pushes the food closer to him. ]

You can go first.

[Archer picks one wrap and pushes the food back to her. The drink is for her convenience; he knows milk neutralizes the spice, and is sure he can handle the spicy version without any additional help.]

We're supposed to share. [he reminds gently, taking a bite. Huh, not bad. The taste isn't that far off, while meat is surely mixed with a bit of wild game. So it's possible to hunt there.]

[ Oh, that's right.

That has her picking up the other one, taking a small bite from the corner as she looked around. ]

Do you think they take it back if you're not sharing?

I don't think so. The celebrations hint at generosity and companionship, excluding some odd ones here and there.

[He tilts his head towards the mixed company of Monsters and humans sharing food and drinks nearby.] They're not minding the company, unlike most seem to do.

I see..

[ She takes a bit of her wrap now, which was actually perfect. She hadn't realized how hungry she was until right now. She stays quiet as she puts her attention to eating, maybe a little too eagerly. ]
