While it might be a fun game in its own way, to try and figure out who's who, and that may in fact be the whole point of a masquerade, he finds it much more exciting to pick out friends in a crowd.
Though now he's in a situation where he may or may not be dancing with Kaede, and in light of everything she revealed to him, that might turn out to be awkward.
Then again, if neither of them know what they're doing, it's more likely to turn into something they'll be able to think back on and laugh about, somewhere down the line. ]
