Can you believe this?

[ it's a huff that's well on its way to enraged, as nami takes in the streets of the outer city, cluttered with random items, some big enough to block that part of the street. they'd come from the ship, nami showing it to sanji in the harbor, and ended up stuck in the middle of the street because of a pile of furniture that looked like it had filled at least two entire rooms.

of course, she'd got the explanation to it all quickly, and now she's fuming about it at sanji. ]

As if the rich have a right to do something like this! This is just like back home, isn't it? At least there's no Celestial Dragons here, or slavery... but this isn't much better. It's like they don't even consider that people live here, too.

[While Sanji's not outwardly showing his anger as much, not yet at least, he's definitely feeling his own distaste and hatred build up, knowing that all of this mess is due to the carelessness or intentionally malicious action of aristocrats. It seems that no matter the island, the world they're in, people like this will always exist.

Not really surprising, both him and Nami-san knows that, but it doesn't make any of this less shitty.

Well, good thing neither of them care all that much about pissing off those with wealth. Surely, it can't be as bad as Luffy punching one of those Celestial Dragons and getting an Admiral to appear. Over two years since that happened, but it's definitely not something any of them will forget.]

[ just. starting small here. she knows she's not willing to let him be like her, pushing survival alone for months and months... but she's also fairly certain this line of conversation will, in fact, result in him having a heart attack.

[Perhaps Sanji's actual power is to switch from being a complete idiot to someone that can actually take a situation seriously. With Nami's question raised in the air between them, the fawning stops as the cook thinks over everything he's learned.

There's well, not anxiety coursing through him, but an obvious worry, like he's been thinking about this whole thing a lot..]

Most of it, definitely everything about turning into a monster.

[Because if he's going to transform into something against his will, he needs to know everything about it. The strengths, the weaknesses, to ensure that he can still protect others and never hurt anyone himself. And with becoming a vampire, he's going to die at some point, transform into a monster bat and potentially lose control of himself.

He really wants to isolate somewhere during that time, if there's even a chance that he might hurt someone-- especially Nami.]

[ she just nods at that first statement — good, he's taking this seriously, as he should be.

[ .... yeah, she sure didn't even ask him. but then, she knows him, and she knows he won't say no. so why ask?? she'll just tell him what they're going to do, and then he'll do it! easy. ]

[Sanji's both terrified and enthralled to be at the end of Nami's glare. Okay, mostly terrified.

And then.]

[Bonded. Him and Nami-san. Sharing a bond-- being together. The rational side of Sanji knows that this is mostly to ensure that he won't fall victim to his changes, but his mind can't stop thinking about him and Nami forming that sort of deep connection!

Besides, isn't there some sort of ceremony involved?! Is Nami going to be dressed for that in a really cute outfit?! Just for their bond?!

Sorry Nami, Sanji.exe has stopped working. He's not quite a statue and at least he hasn't passed out from another nosebleed, but he seems to be on the verge of collapsing anyway. From pure happiness. This is it, Sanji can die happily now.]

[ briefly, nami wonders who she should call if sanji suddenly passes out or loses a lot of blood.... chopper, where are you when you're needed??

in the end, she just ends up watching him carefully, and when he's not suddenly bleeding out or turning into stone, she exhales in relief.

and then smacks him over the head, though slightly less aggressively than usual. it's mostly just to shake him out of it. ]

Stop daydreaming! What did you think, that I'd leave you to find a bond on your own? That'd never happen!! Besides... we're nakama, aren't we? We're the only ones here. We've got to stick together.

Besides, I made it for about four months before being without a bond started to get really bad, and I only got that far with the help of Tangerine.... for monsters, there's no familiar, so it'd be even less for you.

[ meaning: she has one bond already. but really, she couldn't have gone on longer without one... so jiang cheng effectively saved her life by bonding with her. ]

[The smack does bring Sanji out of his daydreaming, allowing the cook to finally take this a little more seriously. Not to mention, the declaration of how they're nakama really sticks to him, a wide but genuine smile forming across his face. He's not surprised in the least, but it's always nice to hear these things still.]

...Of course, Nami-san.

[He fully believes that Nami wouldn't leave him or any of their other nakama on their own. That's just the sort of person she is. She's strong, compassionate, not to mention, loyal to her friends and beliefs.]

Looks like I'm causing you trouble even here. [Sanji chuckles lightly despite his words.] But I'm glad I'm here.

Don't worry, I'll add the costs for all the trouble you cause to your debt back home.

[ said with a sweet smile. (does sanji even owe her anything....? probably without knowing it. all straw hats, sans robin, have a debt tab. zoro's is the largest.)

then, the smile turns a little less sweet, and a little brighter. ]

[ then — ] We'll deal with those stupid nobles first, and then go to make the bond, okay? The sooner the better, we don't know when your changes will start for real.

[Sure, it might be scary to be in debt to Nami-san, but Sanji is willing to be her servant for the rest of his life anyway. His entire soul is hers...!

[Because the faster they deal with these shitheads, the faster they can form a bond together. Sanji doesn't need any more motivation than that. To be even closer to Nami and stop his vampire instincts from hurting anyone.]

[ she just grins, because that's about the response she expected... if it were zoro, or even usopp, this would be way harder, but with sanji it's easy-peasy.

at the declaration, she nods. and luckily, it doesn't take them long to get to where the nobles live, and judging from the pile of trash that's waiting in a carriage in front of their luxurious houses, they're prepared to go dump some more stuff. ]

[ her smile, to outsiders, is perfectly amiable....to sanji, however, it's probably rather terrifying. ]

[While most of his abilities have been subdued since arriving here, Sanji is still confident that he can protect Nami if push comes to shove. Although... given the honestly frightening look she's currently sending towards the nobles, he's starting to believe that no fight is necessary. If he was in their shoes, he'd immediately surrender in the face of a beautiful goddess' wrath.

Sanji doesn't say anything just yet, only a couple of paces behind Nami as he looks at them. He's definitely no nonsense despite his earlier thoughts, more than happy to let Nami lead until things get ugly. She's always the best at initial talks before-- if things turn south.]
