[Ranulf may not be able to get as much vicarious enjoyment of the fireworks out of Ferran due to his subdued mood, but at least there's something there. He looks a little calmer, almost, every time the colors explode in the sky. For a few seconds, he can just pretend he's celebrating a holiday and nothing more.
