[Maria keeps Tamash at her side these days, whenever she roams out into the Wildes. It helps, since the effect of the Wilde on magic and her bondlessness sort of necessitates the need for something to help focus or absorb excess magic.

But, he's just a petalwolf with a good nose that can range around, and so she allows him to. All she has to do is tug on the magic and he'll return, after all. She looks to the sky, looks back around at the topography, and slows her steps a bit.] We should be getting close. Tamash should be back with good news soon, I imagine.

[ There are a lot of fascinating magical creatures that live out in the Wilde and Keith's curiosity is very easily piqued by the talk of this allegedly extinct Skin Changer Monitor. Of course, he's had more than one bad experience out here, so he's a little guarded as he and Scathach follow a set of tracks leading into a dense patch of forest.

Keeping his sword in hand, Keith peers this way and that for any signs of lizards or shades before turning to address his quest companion. ]

Hey, Shadow. You see anything?

[ Getting Maria out and about again felt like an accomplishment all its own. They'd both suffered losses, though Maria's wounds were more fresh. To be able to just go on jaunts out into the Wilde with her was its own way refreshing, a way to distract themselves from the emptiness that was within the city, in some way.

She could smell several flowers in the distance, but wasn't fully certain it was what they were after. She had faith in Tamash's instincts, though. ]

Very well. Do you need to rest, for the moment, my lady?

[ Her eyes were sharp... but her smell was much sharper. ]

See, no... but there is a peculiar scent about. Keep your guard up, lad.

[ Not that he needed her to remind him. The whole area had a creeping dread to it, as if they were walking into some forbidden place, where creatures like them were not welcome... and would soon be shown why. ]

[Jill's shift for the evening was fairly brief, and she was on her way back home before too long into the night. Back to her new life with Shadow. She hadn't really lived with anyone else (besides fore) since Lenore, but this... it felt nice.

She honestly loved coming back to her girlfriend's warmth, or being there to receive Shadow whenever she came back.

Needless to say, she loved her as intensely now as she did back since day one. And so Jill had something a little special in mind for the evening. She returned back to her shared bedroom with Shadow and gave her girlfriend the usual "I'm home" kiss before walking inside proper.

Her work uniform wasn't all that different from what she wore back in Glitch City, down to the short skirt. Jill was comfortable in it, so she didn't really mind, and she knew Shadow enjoyed the show as well.]

Miss me?

[That wouldn't be the only show Shadow would get, though.

Maybe she'd notice, or maybe she wouldn't. Either way, Jill was wearing no underwear beneath that little short skirt of hers...]

[ Oh she noticed. Her sense of smell, after all, as a turnskin was particularly keen. She caught the air of Jill's excitement when she entered the house, only noticing it more and more by the time she came into the room. She showed it in how she kissed her, a little different from her usual "welcome home" kiss, a little hungrier... ]

Always...

[There was a hunger within Jill as well. One that went beyond her needs as a vampire. A constant want and desire for this woman.

Their lips pulled away, and the bartender let out a pleased hum. Her excitement hadn't stopped at the scent Shadow had picked up, but had also left her rather wet. Jill made her way to their bed, sitting down and taking a load off.

Of course, she purposely crossed her legs, which made the skirt hike up along her thighs, and looked right at her love.]

Anything interesting happen while I was out?

[It was good to get out, anyway. There was only so much misery-wallowing in depression someone as active as Maria could do, and spending a couple weeks infirm had more driven her crazy than made her complacent.

She pauses, raising her head a little, as though to get a better vantage deeper into the woods, considering the question... and then shakes her head.] I may have spent a couple weeks injured, but I've been quick to get back into fighting shape. It helps that I have been hired to instruct fencing.

[Gives her something to do to get her out of the house, gives her money, gives her social interaction. Things all quite important for someone that could otherwise very easily isolate themselves and tread a dangerous path.] A quick jaunt to the Wildes should be doable. My leg and knee healed admirably.

[Chariot had wanted to speak with her in private and she wasn't one to keep her mom waiting. Monika did, however, wonder what this was all about. It wasn't too often that she wanted to speak with her alone like this.

Once their duties at the refugee school were done for the day and all the kids had left, she made her way back to their office where sure enough, Chariot was already waiting.]

I'm here, mom! What did you want to talk to me about?

[She took a seat next to her.]

Is everything alright?

I doubt we're going to run into any hostiles in this part of the Wilde. Not from the Cwyld, at least. [ Scathach chuckled, shaking her head. ]

The local fauna is likely to see me as a predator, anyways, and avoid.

[ But it wasn't the fauna they were after, in the end... ]

But if you're so certain of your footing, should we make a game of it? A race to the edge of this wood?

The Salty Seadog manager approached me about doing some extra work during this festival season. I'm a well known enough patron they think I could help with the service there...

[ It was idle chat, but entirely empty of any real meaning. Taking on a part-time job wasn't really a big deal by any stretch for either of them, even if it was at the bar. Her eyes, and mind, were completely elsewhere, gaze locked to those thighs as she licked her lips. ]

Yes, I'm fine. It's about something that's come up, recently.

[ Well. "Fine" was doing a lot of heavy lifting in that statement. Honestly she still wasn't absolutely certain where she ultimately fell in the whole thing. Reconciliation with Croix was not something so easily said and done, and they both had a long way to go in repairing their relationship. But if anyone deserved to hear about the matter from Chariot, first, it was definitely her daughter. ]

Do you... remember me telling you about Croix Meridies?

[ But first she... might want to gauge how Monika would even react. ]

I do, yeah.

[Her tone, was not the worst it could've sounded like.

Chariot had told her practically everything, and naturally, it didn't sit well with Monika. In the same way that Chariot loved and supported her, she felt the exact same way. So the idea of someone who had wronged her was now there with them... It didn't exactly sit well with her.

However, Chariot had also told her about how Croix had realized her mistakes.

If her mother could accept Monika despite what she'd done, shouldn't she offer the same?]

What's got you bringing her up like this?

[Jill's foot idly bobbed up and down as she listened to the conversation. She hadn't even taken off her heels after returning back to the bedroom, a fact she was certain Shadow was also aware of. Neither of them was being very subtle about their intentions, though for her part, Jill did pay attention to what she was hearing, eyes locked with with the turnskin's while her lip curled into a devious little smile.]

Sounds a like a good opportunity. Someone like you...

[She shifted in place, crossing her other leg, but not without being purposely slow with the switch.]

I know firsthand how you handle yourself, and others.

[ She had a feeling Monika's feelings would be... mixed.

Croix had hurt her mother, after all. Pretty severely. But she at least didn't seem angry about that, when the name was brought up. ]

Well, she's... among the new mirrorbound.

[ She was a devil, to be sure. She could feel her blood running hot, pumping wildly as the scent started to overwhelm her. She felt like she could spring and pounce at any moment. But Jill was having too much fun drawing it out... ]

If nothing else, I'm told I have charisma.

No, but stranger things have happened.

[Honestly, if they don't parse Scathach for a predator, they'll parse Maria for one. The scent of a Hunter may have left her a while ago, but the demeanor remained.

... A race. She huffs a noise that's briefly amused - not the first one she's made, but the first in a while, and looks out over the woods.]

You mean, toward that copse of trees, then? Toward where Tamash disappeared?

[Honestly, she shouldn't entertain the idea. A race, like a child, but a run wouldn't be too bad, especially as a way to ensure her leg still is good after all this time.] Very well. We'll make a short race of it.

[She won't even teleport to cheat. She has the leg-length advantage anyway, though she isn't quite sure how the Monster traits will work for Scathach's advantage.]

... Oh.

[So that's why. Honestly Monika just sighed put on as much of a smile as she could.]

Honestly, what can I really say? I think you already know how I feel about her.

I know she's still important to you, and it sounds like she regrets a lot of what she's done.

It'd be pretty hypocritical of me to not even give her an opportunity.

You have that and a whole lot more, babe.

[Jill uncrossed her legs once more and walked over to the dresser. She wasn't planning on spending the rest of the night in her work uniform, after all. Rummaging through, she took out a shirt that was conveniently dropped moments after.]

Ah shit.

[Conveniently dropped, all so that she could bend over and pick it up, right in front of Shadow...]

On three.

[ Scathach rolled her spear over her shoulder to being held behind her, but close to her side, as she knelt down, tail rising and flicking behind her. ]

One... two...

[ "Three" was shouted before she began her sprint, exploding from her starting position but keeping low to the ground, running not unlike one expected a dog like her to do, just... avoiding being on all fours, at least. ]

[ Jill's hand would barely brush the shirt on the floor before Scathach had sprung forward, knees to the ground, and practically buried her lips into those exposed folds, tongue already lapping heavily, hungry and incensed.

The scent was too much to handle any longer. Every instinct was screaming for her to ravage her 'mate'. ]

I don't want you to think of it in those terms, Monika. Your comfort is valuable, regardless of what your past was like.

But, that being said... [ A sigh from Chariot. ]

I do want to introduce her to my wonderful daughter.

[She tenses, ready for the three, and once it's gone, she's off the line. She runs like a person - a seven foot tall person with legs to match, and sprints across the ground like she's used to running things down to kill them.

Because she is.

Even if, right now, this is more friendly competition than Maria trying to run down a Hunter or even a Beast. Her leg feels good, as well, it's holding weight and not twinging or aching as she moves it, as her weight shifts from side to side, as her legs propel her forward at almost a terrifying rate.

She teleports around so frequently, she almost forgets what it's like to just run, and let herself move without the aid of magic.

By the time they hit the clearing, it doesn't actually matter to her which of them wins. The point was that the sporadic burst of energy felt good, and she takes a moment to catch her breath, turning unhurriedly at the sound of something coming through the underbrush - drawn by the noise, doubtlessly - as the pink petalwolf lopes into the clearing, shaking a few extra leaves from his hide, and wagging his tail, tongue lolling.] It's not far, then. That was refreshing, though. Thank you.

[She's only been in a good mood on very infrequent occasions lately, but... this might just be one of them.]

[ Honestly, she couldn't think of a time she saw Maria in such a champion mood. Her smile felt bright, however reserved it was, and the air about her almost seemed sweet, like wine. That, or the flower was closer than they thought...

Actually, the sustained warmth she felt in her face after that sprint was, itself, another sign. She sniffed the air, and looked in the direction the wolf had emerged from. ]

I feel our charge is close.

Got it.

[ Judging from his tense body language, he absolutely doesn't need to be told twice, and getting the confirmation that the area smells suspect only serves to rachet that tension up. According to the coven, the lizard was probably the size of a Labrador, but the forest has more than lizards living in it.

As they follow the trail, they get to a point where it bifurcates down two separate paths, both leading into different sections of forest. Keith gives Scathach a look.]

You think its trying to split us up?

[ Or is that paranoid? Not like the coven had said the lizard was an animal with predatory instincts like divide and conquer. ]
