( his voice lifts slightly at the end of the sentence, though it's less of a question and more an absent confirmation. almost like he's saying instead that there'd better not be, rather than asking if there will be. feathers aren't so bad — bears don't have feathers and, considering the injury that he sustained last time that he agreed to help mo xuanyu with one of these quests, he's reluctant to come this time without knowing exactly what it is he's getting into. he's read the description top to bottom over a dozen times now, and thoroughly questioned locals about the area and the type of creature that they're a bout to encounter (or, more hopefully, avoid). what he's come up with is that, while risky, at least he's able to be aware of the risks ahead of time. and just in case, he's already taken a sip from a silver vial together with mo xuanyu to cement their temporary bond. it's for that reason that he doesn't need to look to know that the other approaches next to him, casting a glance to the sky instead as he speaks. )
