[Leslie’s head bobs slightly as she nods along to his words. She can’t deny any of this. It is just a fact that she ran off to find him — not even by going to the Northern Outpost, where she thought she’d end up in the way of the people preparing to fight the Nuckelavee but would have at least not been alone in danger. She can’t know what happened with Hector, and it could simply be that her bond dissolved for no particular reason (which is the case). And she certainly is at her limit. She thinks that if she takes her eyes off her feet for a moment, she’s going to trip and fall to the ground and that will be the end of walking home.]
I’m still not strong enough.
[Her words are intended as an agreement that she’s at her limit. She says it as though she didn’t begin the year still visibly underfed with her magic replaced with something new.]
[She can’t tell what happened to Hector — or even if anything happened to Hector. But if he was in trouble, she’d been unable to take even the first step to helping him out of it.]
