( CIRQUE MYSTIQUE: 3rd-4th )

[ Vanitas had heard about this thing called a circus before. Of course he's never been to one before, like many things really. There are reasons for him not to go and he considers staying inside. However his curiosity soon gets the better of him and he soon finds himself in the midst of the things.

Once more Vanitas finds himself overwhelmed, as he normally is crowds, by the smell of food and the sounds of people selling wares. Vanitas is more interested in the food than the games, since after watching people play them for a while he figures they're rigged ( or maybe he mocks whoever tries to play them ). So he's walking around and watching the performances with mochi or dumplings in his mouth.

And at night? Vanitas watches the displays. Even he seems a little taken in by it all. Surprisingly. ]

( WONDROUS THINGS )

[ The pay is what draws him to this particular quest. Whisper Cloud reeds need harvested and for some reason the locals don't really seem to be interested. When Vanitas hears why, it is understandable. They tell secrets.

If he goes into an area alone it won't be a problem right? Not to mention Vanitas doesn't consider himself a person that has a bunch of secrets. Most things he's willing to speak on. So it'll be fine.

But it's so not fine. The moment that his fingers touch the fuzz, there are things murmured that he'd not been able to voice himself. Some of his inner thoughts and Vanitas draws back. ]

What a stupid enchantment. Wonder if it will still work if I chop the thing down...

[ And he looks like he's actually considering it! ]

( GATHERING SAMPLES )

[ There's a list of things that someone desires to get cuttings of. Vanitas is someone that more or less can be found roaming around the Wilde. So while he is out finding creatures to put down, he figures that he can do this little errand as well. It isn't as thought he is going out of his way now is it?

There are two things that Vanitas hopes to acquire: the branch from the Orapple tree and the root from the Silphin herb. The Orapple tree is pretty easy to find. Getting the branch? Also not too difficult. Vanitas scales the tree -

And is promptly attacked by a bird whose nest happened to be hidden in there. Vanitas bats at the thing, but ultimately falls out of the tree into a bush. ...Maybe no one will be around to see that? ]

( RUNAWAYS )

[ Here's the thing about the runaway kids. They are angry and sad and feeling so many negative emotions. What's good at sensing these emotions? Well at one time that would have been Vanitas himself. However his Food can. Vanitas thinks to use this to his advantage.

The creature scurries about in the Wilde and Vanitas can be seen following behind it. Void Gear is strapped to his back and visible for the moment. ]

Can't you hurry up? You should have been able to track at least one down by now. [ Snorts ] Worthless thing.

( FLOODS AND KITTENS )

[ Vanitas isn't fostering any kittens. But there are plenty of people that are! Be mindful that the kitten doesn't get too far away from you.

Vanitas' Flood might be scooping them up and running off with them. Where? Well who knows. ~~Maybe it thinks to try to make a meal of them!~~ ]

( A HAIRY SITUATION )

[ Now one of the things that Vanitas hadn't really thought about before had been something along the lines of haircuts. He's been here for a few months shy of a year and not once has he gotten his hair trimmed. In the past he's worn the mask and has never had to worry about it. Now though? It's starting to get in his face - in his eyes. He can't stand it!

Vanitas is in the middle of sparring - training, really - and he keeps having to blow it out of his eyes. He gets fut up and throws his weapon down on the ground, growling. Tugging his hair and just having a rightful fit of it. ]

STOP GETTING IN MY FACE!

[ It probably looks pretty amusing to anyone passing by. ]

( WILD CARD )

[That seems to only delight Sora more and he leans against Vanitas and presses his nose against his cheek.]

But I like saying stuff about you. To you or other people. And you make that face.

[Sora's hand squeezes a knee.]

What face am I making?

[ What is Sora talking about? What face!? Though it is a bit hard to clarify when Sora feels like sticking his nose in a cheek and place a hand on a knee. ]

I don't make a face.

Yeah, you do. The one you're making right now. When you can't look at me and you barely hold back a blush.

[Sora kisses him softly.]

I really love it. It lets me know you're thinking about what I said.

[Oh my, how unfiltered. Speaking of which Sora seems to move to take Vanita's hand. It's time to leave.]

Come on, let's get out of here.

[ There's no holding back anything this time. The color blooms across Vanitas' face and yet he can't be bothered to necessarily feel bad about it. He just feels far more at ease with it all right now. ]

That's because I always think about what you say. I just don't know how to handle it.

[ Someone is definitely being more open and honest at this time, huh. With Sora grabbing his hand, Vanitas is going along with the Puca. If it's time to go it's time to go. ]

Where are we going now.

[He doesn't want to be sitting around in this tent forever. No, right now all he wants to do is to tug Vanitas away and take all his attention elsewhere. He's not really sure why he's so sure of this but he is. Sure as a clear sky.]

But, the big question is! Do you like when I say those kinds of things?

[He grins over his shoulder at the other boy and then winks. All the while tugging Vanitas back into the circus grounds. The sky is hazy with the eclipse.]

[ Sora is such a brat sometimes. Purposefully ignoring his question about where they are going. Maybe he doesn't know, but just wants to get out of here? Vanitas supposes it doesn't matter. In the end he wants to leave and is content enough to follow after Sora. ]

I don't know. It just makes me feel funny.

[ Which is probably something like yes and Vanitas just doesn't really know it. ]

[That answer makes him laugh and he smiles at Vanitas for it.]

You're special to me, Vanitas. That's why I like saying stuff to you. Sorry it makes you feel funny.

[With no real direction at the moment Sora slows down so they end up at a slow walk under the eclipsed moon.]

[ His ears burn again. Not from embarrassment or anything like that. It's the laugh. The smile. It makes him feel like he's floating - even more so than that hazy charm had at the end of the performance. ]

No you're not. You're not sorry at all.

[ Because he can feel Sora's contentment. His joy. It's not like they can very well hide their emotions from each other at this point. ]

Hmmm...

[ As they walk by the stand with colorful, fruit cakes... Vanitas feels inclined to take two. One for Sora. One for himself. ]

[It only earns Vanitas more of that content joyful laughter. Sora's ears perk and swivel.]

Okay, maybe I'm not sorry at all.

[Because Vanitas deserves to hear those things...

But look- cake!]

Fruit cake! Strawberry? Cherry?

[ He shrugs, taking a bite. Well he definitely doesn't have strawberry or cherry. It's peach. Not his favorite, but it still tastes sweet. ]

I just grabbed some. Not really sure what flavors they are.

[ As they walk though, there are plenty of people still milling about. Monsters and Witches alike. They all seem to be in a state of levity as well. The attendants aren't even stopping them from taking this that or the other. Makes Vanitas wonder what's going on a little...

Not that he has much time to ponder the thought. A different Puca, one that looks about their age, approaches them. Vanitas gives them a wary look and makes an attempt to side step. The Puca doesn't allow for this. Rather, the Monster gets veerrrry close to Vanitas, taking a sniff. ]

"I can smell your magic. It's so peaceful and calming... But also like a building storm."

[ Uh. What. ]

[Uh. WHAT.

Sora is just about to mind his own and taste his piece of cake when suddenly there's someone standing very close to his witch. Sora's ears seem to perk and his fur bristles as he hears what is said. In most cases he'd probably make a joke that Vanitas' magic really is that amazing and it should be said out loud but there's just something a little to close about this other puca.]

Uh, yeah, but paws off because he's already got enough bonds. So find your stormy magic somewhere else.

[Sora's even a little surprised at himself but the words just tumble right out of his mouth. He even steps closer to Vanitas on the other side opposite of the other puca.]

[ Look, Van's brain has sort of short-circuited at the moment. Partially because he can't quite process the forwardness of this other Puca. Then partially because he can feel that interesting emotion emanating from Sora. He expects it from himself... Not quite Sora.

And he's even more baffled by Sora's words and actions. What... Is going on here? ]

"Don't be stingy! There's more than one way to transfer a little magic without a bond..."

[ The Puca is pretty forward. Runs a finger under Van's jaw and everything. Now that doesn't sit well with him. And he's reaching out to grab that wrist. ]

Hey!

[Sora never really thought he was much of a jealous person. But he's also never had a relationship like the one he and Vanitas have before so this sort of feeling is a bit new to him. But he feels this bubble of heated upset in his lungs that makes it a little hard to breathe for a moment.

But then this puca decides to step up that is when Sora's eyes practically flicker with annoyance.

And while Vanitas is already grabbing that wrist-]

Not happening in a million years-!

[Sora's already much too busy shoving his cake right into the puca's face.]

[ Vanitas blinks for a moment. He watches the exchange and is downright shocked. He has nothing to say! But the Puca, on the other hand, makes a dismayed sound and starts to wipe off the cake. Of course Monsters are bit more... Unruly. Thus the Puca yanks their wrist out of Van's hold and looks like they are about ready to fight. ]

"You little -!"

[ No need to hear the rest. Vanitas is grabbing Sora by the waist and teleporting them a short distance away.

Then he starts to laugh. Hard. ]

Yeah- Wha-

[YEAH WHAT- But Sora's cut short by the teleport which makes him blink suddenly in surprise. It takes a long moment for him to get his bearings which is only broken by the fact that... Vanitas is seriously losing it.]

Vanitas! [His cheeks get very red and he crosses his arms over his chest defiantly.] That puca was weird! Okay?!

[He's still kind of surprised at himself. Why had he reacted so quickly and without really thinking about it?? Someone flirting with Vanitas shouldn't really be that surprising to Sora... Vanitas is Vanitas. He's charming and good looking so...]

[ Oh but Vanitas isn't done laughing. Even with Sora flustered and trying to explain, it is all too funny to him. Seeing the other lash out like that in some possessive jealousy is the best thing that he has seen all day. Too bad that Sora isn't going to be able to cover himself. Vanitas still has a hold of him. Starts to swing the little Puca around, some manic glee dancing around in his heart ]

You shoved a cake in their face!

V-Vanitas!!

[Sora immediately flails and grabs at the other which means his cheeks just burn even more!]

Quit it!

[He was so mean to that puca and here Vanitas is laughing!! Gosh!!]

No. I’m not going to.

[ There’s a fierceness in the way that he says this. Sora doesn’t need to feel bad. Vanitas doesn’t think so at all. As he sees it, a cake to the face is light compared to what he would have done. ]

That was perfect!

[ He sets the other down. Grabs his cheeks. Kisses him hard. ]

No it- Waaah--!

[Kissed so hard out of the blue!! Sora yips and stands there, red-faced and rabbit ears bent backwards and... gets super kissed.

... Oh.

His hands quickly hold at Vanitas' wrists because... Good. He might still be a little jealous at the moment so he wants this kiss. Even if he's still super embarrassed.]

[ And he'll just get this kiss. Then maybe a few peppered all over the dumb Puca's face. Vanitas doesn't know why he feels inclined to do so. Why he's just so downright thrilled and unable to hold back the sheer joy at seeing such a scene. But he feels thought things rather strongly. In the end he sees no reason to hold back. ]

Amazing.

[ So he might be in a little awe of Sora right now. ]

[Well this is quite the strong reaction he's getting and even Sora is getting surprised now! Getting so many kisses and feeling such a burst of sparking emotions on their bond has his ears perking upwards again.

When the kissing stops he looks at Vanitas with slightly burning eyes and his face still flushed.]

It's not amazing... You're just- My witch.

[Despite them both knowing of their other bonds?? Vanitas is his witch.]

[ Van's hands are on Sora's cheeks all right. He chuckles, dark and deep within his chest as his thumbs make trails under those eyes. Sora better not feel sorry or embarrassed. Vanitas sees no reason as to why this should be. ]

That I am as you are mine.

[ They've established this during Litha have they not? ]

Do you not notice what I do to those giving you a passing glance?

[They have already established this so that's probably why Sora just reacted so fast in the way that he did! Maybe Vanitas is turning him into a little bit of a bad boy too... Good grief.

But there is this sense of satisfaction that warms him just then. His fur stops bristling so much but he still clutches tightly at Vanitas' wrists where they hold him.]

People look at me? [Sora snorts. He still thinks he's a pretty plain boy next door.] I don't really notice what you do!

They do look at you. [ How could Sora think otherwise? ] You're bright, bubbly, and cute.

[ Somehow it's... Easier to say all that right now? Which is a little odd because Vanitas is sure that there is a reason that he's struggled to be that forthright? ]

And every time I might send them a nonverbal death threat.

[Sora blinks quickly. For a moment he's not sure he's hearing things right because Vanitas is openly calling him three really sweet things and--

Oh. Yep. There are the death threats. It's still on-brand for Vanitas. Still, he's oddly flattered?]

You don't gotta send death threats to anyone, Vanitas. I'm yours too, dummy.

[He's smiling though.]

And if anything happens you'll just need to be armed with some cake too.
