( CIRQUE MYSTIQUE: 3rd-4th )

[ Vanitas had heard about this thing called a circus before. Of course he's never been to one before, like many things really. There are reasons for him not to go and he considers staying inside. However his curiosity soon gets the better of him and he soon finds himself in the midst of the things.

Once more Vanitas finds himself overwhelmed, as he normally is crowds, by the smell of food and the sounds of people selling wares. Vanitas is more interested in the food than the games, since after watching people play them for a while he figures they're rigged ( or maybe he mocks whoever tries to play them ). So he's walking around and watching the performances with mochi or dumplings in his mouth.

And at night? Vanitas watches the displays. Even he seems a little taken in by it all. Surprisingly. ]


( WONDROUS THINGS )

[ The pay is what draws him to this particular quest. Whisper Cloud reeds need harvested and for some reason the locals don't really seem to be interested. When Vanitas hears why, it is understandable. They tell secrets.

If he goes into an area alone it won't be a problem right? Not to mention Vanitas doesn't consider himself a person that has a bunch of secrets. Most things he's willing to speak on. So it'll be fine.

But it's so not fine. The moment that his fingers touch the fuzz, there are things murmured that he'd not been able to voice himself. Some of his inner thoughts and Vanitas draws back. ]

What a stupid enchantment. Wonder if it will still work if I chop the thing down...

[ And he looks like he's actually considering it! ]


( GATHERING SAMPLES )

[ There's a list of things that someone desires to get cuttings of. Vanitas is someone that more or less can be found roaming around the Wilde. So while he is out finding creatures to put down, he figures that he can do this little errand as well. It isn't as thought he is going out of his way now is it?

There are two things that Vanitas hopes to acquire: the branch from the Orapple tree and the root from the Silphin herb. The Orapple tree is pretty easy to find. Getting the branch? Also not too difficult. Vanitas scales the tree -

And is promptly attacked by a bird whose nest happened to be hidden in there. Vanitas bats at the thing, but ultimately falls out of the tree into a bush. ...Maybe no one will be around to see that? ]


( RUNAWAYS )

[ Here's the thing about the runaway kids. They are angry and sad and feeling so many negative emotions. What's good at sensing these emotions? Well at one time that would have been Vanitas himself. However his Food can. Vanitas thinks to use this to his advantage.

The creature scurries about in the Wilde and Vanitas can be seen following behind it. Void Gear is strapped to his back and visible for the moment. ]

Can't you hurry up? You should have been able to track at least one down by now. [ Snorts ] Worthless thing.


( FLOODS AND KITTENS )

[ Vanitas isn't fostering any kittens. But there are plenty of people that are! Be mindful that the kitten doesn't get too far away from you.

Vanitas' Flood might be scooping them up and running off with them. Where? Well who knows. Maybe it thinks to try to make a meal of them! ]


( A HAIRY SITUATION )

[ Now one of the things that Vanitas hadn't really thought about before had been something along the lines of haircuts. He's been here for a few months shy of a year and not once has he gotten his hair trimmed. In the past he's worn the mask and has never had to worry about it. Now though? It's starting to get in his face - in his eyes. He can't stand it!

Vanitas is in the middle of sparring - training, really - and he keeps having to blow it out of his eyes. He gets fut up and throws his weapon down on the ground, growling. Tugging his hair and just having a rightful fit of it. ]

STOP GETTING IN MY FACE!

[ It probably looks pretty amusing to anyone passing by. ]


( WILD CARD )

As in... You'd use them on my hair?

[ Despite his name, Vanitas isn't vain when it comes to his looks. However the idea of having those sharp things near his face...

It's not like he doesn't have a degree of trust for Lio. He does, oddly.

There's just some unease about this. ...Maybe that also comes from some of the gaps in his heart being filled? ]

[piromare]

Yeah. Unless you'd rather wait for me to get a pair of scissors. I have a little experiencing cutting my own hair.

( he couldn't always go into the city and get a haircut. his burnish lifestyle meant having to do a lot of things himself, or for other burnish that asked him to do it for them. )

You'd be in safe hands. ( a beat, then he huffs. ) Or claws. Or whatever.

[darkcharge]

[ Vanitas looks at the talons. Then back up to Lio at the comment. ]

Tch. [ It's something of a laugh, promise. ] Could you even use scissors with those things?

[piromare]

Probably not. That's why I have these natural ones.

( with a more discerning eye, lio hums while in thought. )

I think... you just need a slight trim. Just to keep the hair out of your face, right? I won't touch the rest.

[darkcharge]

[ Vanitas considers this. All he needs is a trim? Keep the hair out of his eyes? Yeah, that's true. The biggest issue here is that it is in his eyes. He can't see. ]

It being in my eyes is the concern. All of this mess is starting to throw me off when I am practicing.

[piromare]

So you're okay with this?

( yep, he can picture exactly what needs to be cut. the other thing he can't imagine, and doesn't want to, is if he messes up... but honestly this is simple! very simple. )

Just move your hands if you want me to do it.

[darkcharge]

[ Vanitas takes a deep breath. He shakes his head and removes his hands. ]

Okay... Have at it I suppose.

[piromare]

( with one sharp nod, lio carefully raises one hand to raise some of the longer chunks of hair, the ones that certainly could be trimmed away. using his other hand he could 'pinch' with his talons, effectively clipping what dangled from in between his digits with left hand. )

... I met Sora. ( snip, snip. ) You weren't kidding about his energy.

[darkcharge]

[ Vanitas will do his best not to flinch, all right? Despite what his body has went through, his face has always been covered. At least until arrival here. ]

That doesn't surprise me. He's... Far more social than I.

[ Though of course Vanitas hadn't been lying about the Puca's energy! Sora doesn't know when to stop! ]

[piromare]

In that way, you both balance each other out.

( something that he thought he had with galo though he never had the time to act on it, and his current bond with momo hasn't felt like that. he's still a good witch, though... and good person to have a friendship with. )

But I can see how being like that could get him in trouble.

[darkcharge]

Yeah... I've noticed that a lot. Hence why I say our bond is likely more beneficial to me than it is for him. Hopefully my contribution is that he will get in trouble less.

[ As Vanitas is the more hostile and aggressive of the two. So naturally Sora's disposition and emotions would, in a way, cancel out Van's. He gets to experience more and, in return, has mellowed out quite a bit. ]

What about you though. Have you found someone to bond to?

[piromare]

I have. ( with a nod, lio continues to be careful so he doesn't accidentally clip something that he shouldn't. he'd feel bad if he somehow ruined van's aesthetic... something about spiky hair and making sure it doesn't end up being too short. )

His name is Momo. He's a good person, though he's energetic in a different way.

( idols and their charisma. )

And he's been kind enough to take care of me while I adjust to... you know. All of this.

( his wings twitch in response. )

[darkcharge]

[ All the while Vanitas stands very, very still. Honestly it's a little nerve-wracking. Makes his pulse race. He won't lie and say that he is comfortable with this, little flashes of memory coming back at him with every little pinch and seeing the talons so close to his person. ]

What kind of different way?

[piromare]

... he's flirtatious, but in a way that you'd expect from someone who performs in public and needs to charm people with their shows.

( that's probably the best way to describe momo. he's got that kind of energy. )

I don't know if that makes sense or not. Either way, I can trust him. I stepped into his memories, too.

[darkcharge]

So in the more overt, dramatic way than anything subtle.

[ Vanitas isn't sure that they would get along. He isn't the type to be able to handle that sort of energy for overlong. ]

As long as you trust him, I suppose it's fine.

[piromare]

( honestly, it's the same with lio? but perhaps being exposed to it on a different level has tempered his feelings. )

I do. I trust him as much as I do... other people.

( he flashes a smile at van, before pulling back with some of the more egregious strands of hair in his other hand. )

Okay. You look the same as you did before, just without all of this in the way.

[darkcharge]

[ That makes sense. After all that's sort of what has happened with Sora and himself. Vanitas is calmer and able to handle more because of the Puca.

Though wow, Lio. Is that comment aimed at him? 'Cause if so then Van's ears burn a little. ]

Glad you found someone before you had the unfortunate experience of going feral. I had to set someone straight on that recently.

[ When Lio backs off Vanitas is already running a hand through his hair. Testing! ]

[piromare]

( good to know he can still make something burn around here... )

I don't want to think about what might've happened if I did go feral. ( he grins at van inspecting his hair with his fingers, crossing his arms across his chest as he takes some pride in his work. ) But I know I'm lucky.

So. Does it pass the test?

( the haircut, of course. )

[darkcharge]

Witches blow up and Monsters go feral. Honestly I'm not sure which one has the worse end of the deal here. Still, I have seen someone go feral and good thing it wasn't you.

[ Then again he had went after Lavi for personal reasons. ]

Anyway... It feels fine. Not about to get in my eyes now.

[piromare]

( he blinks rapidly. did he just correctly hear what van said? )

Blow up? ( squint. ) You mean, like an explosion.

( wincing, lio shakes his head. )

You better never get to that point. Or else you won't have any hair to cut.

[darkcharge]

Or implode... It kind of felt like a magical build up that I couldn't control.

[ A shrug. It had been pretty hard on his body, really. Fevers. Illness. If it hadn't been for Sora... ]

So I've already been to that point.

[piromare]

( he huffs! )

Then don't do it again. ( which should be avoidable, given his bond with the bunny. ) Last thing I want to hear is that you've somehow blown up.

( not only does it sound like an awful way to go, but he'd miss van. )

[darkcharge]

I'm not going to do it again! [ Huff in return! ] It's not going to happen now that I have these bonds.

[ Definitely not happening. He has enough bonds. One of wish isn't going anywhere. ]

[piromare]

( lio repeats his huff, though it quickly turns into a snicker. )

Yeah, I know. Your bond will keep you safe, but still. Be careful anyway.

( never hurts to be reminded by a friend, right??? he wants to be able to see van with longer hair. just not in the front. )

[darkcharge]

You're kind of worrying a little much, right? I learned my lesson and I don't care to have it repeated.

[ He rubs the back of his neck. ]

It's fine. You're not going feral and I won't explode. So no need for those concerns.
