In all honestly, there's a bit of baggage there he doesn't really want to get into with someone he just met, but the specific way Soren worded it lets him avoid that. Yuki and his original partner were Momo's idols at one point before he had to step in as a replacement, but Momo was 18 when he first saw them, which is grown up in several countries he's been to even if it's not in his own.
