Yeah, that's still a decent trade for something like that, would've taken a while to work obsidian into a clean enough knife to use. [i.e. Something that wasn't going to cut someone's hand when they reached for it. He figures whittling down details like a handle is that much harder when you're working with stone (or volcanic glass) and not something malleable like metal, and then the blade is another matter entirely.]
I'm glad you got something good that's not metal, though. Hopefully more people can get hold of that stuff if the path down here stays open.
