I'm aware of that truth, yes.

[ Because he had done everything that he could in order to obtain his other half. His missing piece. Yet in the end Ventus gets to have his heart restored and Vanitas? Well Vanitas couldn't get anything in the end. His only option had been to disappear. ]

So I suppose that's a fair enough statement.
