It's inappropriate, but harmlessly so when there are no other cultivators around to be dismayed by the sight of a Lan speaking so beneath his station. Even if he did essentially forsake his position, the lingering connection wouldn't be discounted so easily. But at least now in the Underground they are blending into the crowd in their own way and nobody is there to catch this little game.
Xichen might not have minded even if they did. It's a pleasant feeling to be relaxed alongside his friend again, sharing light exchanges the way they did in the past. The golden ribbons now linking them are particularly nice to him. He will never say that Jin Guangyao isn't charming -- the man continues to shower gifts and praise over him like flowers, and Lan Xichen can't help but be flattered by them.
Following just two steps behind his proclaimed master, Lan Xichen makes sure to carefully meet the modest posture and meticulous attention of a dedicated servant. He keeps his gaze lowered and his steps light, not lagging or going too fast, letting Jin Guangyao lead with smooth sliding motions that take them past several booths he doesn't look at. All of his attention is put toward staying near his Bonded, only ready to fetch an item or move something out of the way when it seems that Jin Guangyao might be inconvenienced even slightly by having to move it himself. If he's not quite at the other man's level of anticipation, he does at least try his best.
When they stop and he's handed some money, Lan Xichen accepts the coins with a low bow, a faint, serene smile still playing on his lips. "As my lord wishes. His follower will carry out your wish promptly."
He probably gets a bit too much satisfaction out of saying that, breaking the immersion a bit, but he manages to keep a composed expression as he withdraws, still bowing, until he can turn and peruse the food stalls for an appropriate meal they can both have. When he finally picks out what he thinks is good enough, he returns with some wrapped packages neatly stacked in his hands and melts like a shadow behind Jin Guangyao again as if he were never gone. That much he's actually pretty good at.
