Folding it in half in his hands to find the right point to attach, Jin Guangyao reaches up to tie the gold ribbon neatly to Lan Xichen's existing hairpiece. If Lan Xichen has decided, for his own reasons, not to wear his sect headband, Jin Guangyao will have to live without having ever really touched it. But he can at least appreciate a slightly different aesthetic, with the long tails of ribbon hanging down against the long dark hair. And it does look distinct against the muted tones of Xichen's clothing, and not in a bad way at all.

The second piece he keeps for himself, pulling his hair over one shoulder and tying the long ends together. Even if the color wasn't enough, they properly matched now.

"There," he says, lightly brushing his hand against Lan Xichen's hair, with the excuse of smoothing down the bands of fine cloth. "I should think that enough for anyone to understand plainly, when we're together."
