We're here for it!

1. A. Red algae would not be confiscated. They have no clue what this red stuff is but they aren't sure if it's a good thing or not, so have at it, stranger. At Aefenglom's gates, they'll be just as confused about it, but will only give him a warning not to get it all over people's gardens, just in case.
B. They would still be checked, just to make sure they aren't trying to make off with something important.
C. The hanging moss strangely seems to reach out for the red stuff when it's being held by someone, as if trying to envelop it, but the algae doesn't show any signs of being infected... And when it's growing up the sides of the moss, it doesn't seem to be consumed. It has the locals pretty baffled.

2. It may be possible to snag some spores as long as he's subtle about it! They may ask him what's in the jars and telling them the truth will get them confiscated, but you know, spores are pretty tiny... Whether they'll actually manage to grow is another story, however.
