Urianger holds his ground for the examination; Emet-Selch's recreation of Amaurot was not so long ago, and this feels no different from the encounters they had there with the shades populating it. Except, of course, that this is apparently the actual Hythlodaeus, and not the memory of him that the Warrior told them about encountering, back in that sunken city. He seems...nice. For all that the size difference is as disconcerting as the traditional mask-and-robe ensemble, it's difficult to actually read him as threatening in any way.
With the difference between their times, surely it's unlikely that the other will even recognize them as being from the same world. And how can he possibly explain? Why burden this gentle figure so suddenly with a future too far past to change? Maybe he's rationalizing. Maybe he's just gotten too good at lying to people who aren't his enemies, claiming it's for their own good.
Urianger smiles up at Hythlodaeus. For now, he'll play it by ear, and not answer questions he hasn't been asked.
"Indeed I am. I am Urianger Augurelt." A slight bow. "A companion of mine offered up my name as a storyteller, upon learning that the theater was to reopen, and while 'tis hardly my primary vocation, I have little reason at the moment to decline. As for why theatrical performance was ever outlawed, I have no insight to offer; even were some past leadership deeply offended by a satire, 'twould seem a priority to undo their excesses once power had been transferred to a more sensible party." He shakes his head. "Whatever the reason, it is heartening to see the ban undone."
and same to you! I could hardly resist
